Job Description - Teacher Aide - Part-Time

Working at Autism Queensland is about life and all the moments that make up each day. The highs, the lows and everything in between. We walk alongside our clients, families, and carers, helping them on their journey to achieving their goals and living life on their terms.

At AQ, you’ll work with people who are generous, caring, compassionate, and resilient. A team that never stops learning or striving to make tomorrow even better than today. With us, you’ll be supported by leaders who understand and care about your journey in our organisation, in our community and beyond. As a vital resource in our learning and education services you’ll influence the lives of our students and their families directly. You’ll contribute to positive change in the autism community – every single day.

“Building an organisation with managers who haven’t lost touch with what the purpose is makes us all work towards common goals in various parts of the business. It just feels good. It’s a positive place to be.”

Our P-12 independent school is built on a strong inter-disciplinary foundation of Specialist Teachers, Aides and Allied Health Professionals. Working in a collaborative, supporting environment tapping into our market leading research to provide quality education and support to autistic students.

Utilising functional skills and assessments, our Teacher Aides provide support to a class of six students with neurodiverse affirming practices and principles across a range of environments. There will be a focus on enhancing the wellbeing and holistic growth of young people through the development of supportive learning environments, quality communication and effective classroom management.

If you've got experience in the field of Autism, a Cert III in Education support or equivalent qualification, and a passion for children's education then why wait? We're looking for passionate individuals to join us in making an impact in the lives of autistic children.

From health and wellness programs to professional development, we encourage our staff to strive for a better balance.

  • Access up to $18,000 in Not-For-Profit salary packaging.
  • Look after your health through discounts to eligible Medibank private health insurance options, with singles through to family coverage options available.
  • Exceptional professional development opportunities to support your career growth.
  • Prioritise wellbeing through a discounted Fitness Passport with access to various fitness and aquatic centres all around the country – for you AND your immediate family!
  • Be part of an organisation with a practice excellence team dedicated to providing our people with clinical supervision and mentoring.
  • You’ll have access to the latest research through our own research and development team.
  • Gain meaningful experience through empowering autistic people, their families, carers, and the wider community.

Autism Queensland strives to create environments where everyone has equal access to connect their greatest passions with their fullest potential, celebrating all people and their right to participate and belong. We ask that you please let us know if there are any adjustments you may need to ensure you are supported during our recruitment process.
