B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) Limited contract until: 09/30/2028Job ID: 2362Information about the position:We announce two University Assistant (PhD candidate/Praedoc) positions in the Social and Economic Psychology group ( led by Prof. Dr. Robert Böhm ( at the Department of Occupational, Economic, and Social Psychology. In our working group, we are interested in describing, explaining, predicting, and changing human behavior in social interactions. Specifically, we investigate human judgments and pro-social or anti-social decisions in applied social dilemmas (e.g., antibiotic use, vaccination, climate change, and intergroup conflict). Our research is often interdisciplinary (psychology, behavioral economics, and related disciplines), combines different methods and 'tools' (e.g., game-theoretical experiments, computational methods, virtual reality, artificial intelligence), and follows Open Science principles. We collaborate with international researchers and institutions (e.g., United Nations, World Health Organization). Currently, we are particularly looking for individuals interested in a dissertation project related to antibiotic use/antimicrobial resistance or intergroup conflict. In our working group, we place special emphasis on diversity (personal, content-related, and methodological), mutual appreciation, and support. More information about our team values can be found here: Additionally, the PhD candidates’ dissertation projects will be integrated into the structured doctoral program of the “Vienna Doctoral School in Cognition, Behavior and Neuroscience from Biology to Psychology and the Humanities” (VDS CoBeNe; The aim of VDS CoBeNe is to provide a supportive environment for interdisciplinary research projects and doctoral training. The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.Specifically, you will:You actively participate in research, teaching, and administration, which means:You will contribute to research projects and scientific studies in one of the group’s research areas. You will answer research questions either in the area of antibiotic use/antimicrobial resistance or intergroup conflict. You will work on your dissertation. We expect to conclude a dissertation agreement within 12 months. You will work on scientific publications and presentations. You will independently teach BSc/MSc courses in accordance with the collective agreement provisions (approximately 1 course per semester)You will (co-)supervise BSc and MSc students in the psychology study program. You will support the organization of conferences. You will undertake administrative tasks, particularly in academic self-administration. What we expect:You have a very good MSc degree (or equivalent) in psychology or a related discipline (e.g., Decision Sciences, Behavioral Economics). You have a high intrinsic motivation to contribute solving societal challenges with your research. You gained first experiences in planning and conducting experimental studies. You have very good statistical knowledge and basic programming skills in R and/or Python. You are also eager to learn new research methods. You are cooperative and team-oriented. You have very good written and verbal communication skills. You have excellent English skills and can communicate in English within an international working group.
