Welcome aboard!Your personal sphere of play:'Religion and Transformation in Contemporary Society' (RaT) is an interdisciplinary research centre at the University of Vienna, which continues the work of the research platform of the same name (2010–2018). It brings together Scientists from 7 faculties and 14 disciplines (including Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox and Islamic theology, religious studies, social and cultural studies, studies of law, philosophy, and the department of education) under one roof.Our Profile:• RaT researches the reciprocal relations between religion, religiousness and transformation processes within the contemporary global context.• We offer you a varied position as a university assistant (postdoc) in a small team.• The duration of the employment is initially limited to the employee's absence (30.11.2024) but can be extended should the need arise.Your future tasks:Your tasks as a maternity leave cover as university assistant (post-doc) in the field of social science research on religion include the following areas:• Active participation in research, administration, and their intersections (science management)• In the area of research, the job profile includes working on ongoing research projects as well as further developing your own research profile, and the corresponding international publication and presentation activities• A teaching load of 4 hours per week per semester• Working on the Open Access Journal JRAT, and other publication organs of RaT• The support and promotion of scientific networks, representation of the Research Center RaT in international cooperations, and participation in evaluation measures/quality assurance are also part of your tasksMinimum qualifications:• A completed doctorate/PhD-degree in social sciences or religious studies/theology with a specialization in social science plus the corresponding scientific publications are a requirement• Professional experience in a university context, familiarity with academic organizational procedures/structures, and university teaching experience• Proven knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods of empirical social research• Verifiable interest in topics related to the Research Centre and in interdisciplinary work in general are expected• Advanced computer skills, a high level of written and oral expression as well as excellent written and spoken English skills are requiredAdditional qualifications:• Experience in participating in research projects as well as autonomous publication activity (in journals and recognized publishing houses) related to topics of the Research Centre is desirable• Comprehensive methodological knowledge and the corresponding IT user skills (SPSS, Atlas.ti, etc.) are also an advantage• International lecturing experience is also desirableWhat we offer:The duration of the employment is initially limited to the employee's absence but can be extended should the need arise.
