Role Summary:

We are seeking a talented individual to join us as Senior Corporate Affairs Manager at Haleon, covering the French and Benelux markets. In this role, you will lead an end-to-end corporate affairs strategy for Haleon in these markets.

Reporting to Head of Corporate Affairs Northern Europe, you will help drive ambitious reputation building agenda for Haleon in Northern European markets and position Haleon as a major player in the self-care sector – one that is leading the conversation about the value of self-care and everyday health.

The role combines communications, issues management, government affairs, long-term stakeholder engagement, reputation-building campaigns and external communications. The Senior Corporate Affairs Manager will be a business partner to GMs across Northern Europe (primarily France and Benelux) with a goal to build relations with key stakeholders (including local media, key authorities and policymakers) and support GMs in building these relations, driving national industry associations strategy and presence in other relevant local organisations / think tanks, NGOs etc.

It is a maternity cover role for 6 – 8 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Head of Corporate Affairs Northern Europe to develop annual Corporate Affairs and internal communications strategy, aligned with overall business priorities;
  • Provide advice and implement strategic decisions based on an expert understanding of the external and internal environment;
  • Be a strategic partner to the cluster/market GMs and provide local market senior leaders with counsel/advice on key communications and external affairs;
  • Work effectively with local and regional Communications and Government Affairs agencies;
  • Build capabilities/train key market leaders in responding to media and engaging with policymakers and other external stakeholders;
  • Act as Corporate Affairs advisor to key change initiatives in the Clusters, advising market leaders on Comms strategy and leading on development of Comms materials for major change projects;
  • Work with Head of Corporate Affairs for Northern Europe to develop policy agenda for Northern Europe;
  • Develop government affairs, advocacy and public policy agenda in full alignment with short and long-term business goals;
  • Monitor external environment in all markets within the region with focus on France and Benelux; provide monthly reports on trends, and progress against annual objectives;
  • As part of this role, the Senior Corporate Affairs Manager is expected to build and maintain relationships with key policy makers, industry players and relevant industry associations in Northern Europe to advocate for better access to consumer healthcare products across different channels;
  • Support accelerating Trade Association Strategy for Northern Europe, in close collaboration with the NE Regulatory teams, GMs, European/Global Corporate Affairs teams;
  • Coordinate briefings for senior leaders who represent Haleon in the boards and committees of local associations;
  • Effectively mitigate and manage potential risks to consumer healthcare business across Northern Europe, with focus on France and Benelux. Based on economic impact, develop detailed advocacy plans, with clear KPI’s;
  • Build training modules and roll-out GA training to improve GA capabilities of the business leaders as well as other Corporate Affairs professionals in Northern Europe;
  • Proactively search for and lead on projects that maximise business opportunity through GA work; aligned with the business and relevant stakeholders (including building the case, getting buy-in from the business, requesting and obtaining resources).

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Economics, Communications or Political Science.
  • Experience in developing and implementing government affairs strategies and corporate affairs campaigns.
  • Experience in project management, health policy, or international development (preferred).
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to analyse competitive activities and environments systematically.
  • Proven track record in operational excellence and customer communication.
  • People management and coaching skills.
  • Excellent execution skills.

To be amended by French HR as these are legal requirements for permanent contracts, these should be prorated for a 6-8 month fixed term contract otherwise the temp will end up being on annual leave 50% of the time!
