Accountabilities
- Lead consistent 1-on-1s with direct reports focused on growth, wellbeing, and performance.
- Manage the full performance cycle — goal setting, ongoing feedback, and formal reviews.
- Mentor and develop data scientists and engineers of varying skill levels.
- Foster a collaborative, high-trust team environment where innovation thrives.
- Monitor team engagement, taking proactive steps to address issues.
- Drive team growth through strategic hiring and onboarding.
- Guide the development and delivery of machine learning models and AI-powered solutions.
- Promote best practices in data science, including model quality and responsible AI.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience managing data science or analytics teams with a strong focus on people development.
- Hands-on background in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics.
- Strong technical foundation in Python, SQL, and relevant DS/ML frameworks.
- Experience working in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Familiarity with Agile practices and data engineering workflows.
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences.
- Genuine commitment to growing the people around you.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field; experience is the most relevant factor.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
