Accountabilities
- Lead consistent 1-on-1s with direct reports focused on growth, wellbeing, and performance
- Manage the full performance cycle including goal setting, ongoing feedback, and formal reviews
- Mentor and develop data scientists and engineers of varying skill levels
- Foster a collaborative, high-trust team environment where innovation thrives
- Monitor team engagement and address issues proactively
- Drive team growth through strategic hiring and onboarding
- Guide the development and delivery of machine learning models and AI-powered solutions
- Partner with engineering and product teams to align on priorities
- Promote best practices in data science, including model quality and responsible AI
- Translate complex data science outputs into actionable insights for stakeholders
- Communicate effectively across all levels, from individual contributors to senior leadership
- Align data science efforts with broader business objectives
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience managing data science or analytics teams with a strong focus on people development
- Hands-on background in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics
- Strong technical foundation in Python, SQL, and relevant data science/machine learning frameworks
- Experience working in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Familiarity with Agile practices and data engineering workflows
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
- Genuine commitment to developing the team members around you
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field; experience is the most relevant factor
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
