Farmer Trader / Origination Trader - Hungary

Role Purpose

The Farmer Trader is responsible for originating agricultural commodities directly from Hungarian farmers, producer groups, and cooperatives, combining local market expertise with commercial trading execution.

Key Responsibilities

Farmer Origination & Relationships

• Build and manage strong commercial relationships with Hungarian farmers and producer organisations
• Negotiate spot and forward purchase contracts
• Ensure repeat business and long-term farmer loyalty

Trading & Commercial Execution

• Originate physical volumes aligned with trading strategy and risk limits
• Monitor Hungarian crop conditions, pricing dynamics, and export flows
• Work with trading desks on pricing, hedging, and margin optimisation

Market Intelligence

• Track weather patterns, crop progress, yields, and farmer selling behaviour
• Provide actionable market insights to management

Contracts, Logistics & Compliance

• Manage contract execution, quality, delivery, and payment terms
• Coordinate with logistics, storage, and quality teams
• Ensure compliance with Hungarian regulations and internal controls

• 3–10+ years experience in agricultural trading or origination in Hungary
• Strong farmer network across key producing regions
• Knowledge of grains and oilseeds (corn, wheat, sunflower, rapeseed)
• Fluent Hungarian; business-level English required
• High field presence; valid driving licence
