Computer Science and STEM Teacher

Job Description:

A Computer Science and STEM teacher is responsible for providing instruction in computer science and STEM subjects to students at various educational levels. The teacher is responsible for developing and delivering lesson plans that are engaging and effective in helping students learn about computer science and STEM concepts.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver lesson plans for computer science and STEM subjects that meet the needs of students at various educational levels.
• Use a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, hands-on activities, and group projects, to engage students and promote their understanding of computer science and STEM concepts.
• Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to students and parents on their progress.
• Create and administer tests and assignments to assess student learning.
• Use technology to enhance the learning experience, such as using computer simulations, online resources, and interactive whiteboards.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that integrates computer science and STEM concepts into other subjects.
• Stay up-to-date with advances in computer science and STEM fields, and incorporate new knowledge into lesson plans.
• Attend professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with education trends and practices.
• Ensure the success of students in passing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Computer Science exam and Python certification exams.
• Maintain a positive and safe learning environment for students.
• Be familiar with 3D design, mobile app design, and basic electronics design software.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM-related field, or Education with a focus on Computer Science and/or STEM.
• State teaching certification and/or experience in teaching Computer Science and/or STEM at various educational levels.
• Strong knowledge of computer science and STEM concepts and their application to real-world problems.
• Ability to use a variety of teaching methods to engage students and promote their understanding of complex concepts.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to use technology to enhance the learning experience, such as using computer simulations, online resources, and interactive whiteboards.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to effectively plan and deliver lessons.
• Passion for teaching and a commitment to student learning and success.
• Excellent experience in Python programming language, Open CV, and Raspberry Pi.
• Experience in teaching International Baccalaureate (IB) Computer Science.
• Experience in teaching Scratch programming language.
• Experience in teaching VEX robotics.
• Familiarity with 3D design, mobile app design, and basic electronics design software.
