Surveyor I Senior

The Senior Surveyor I is considered anintermediate to advanced level Surveyor position. The primaryfunction is to examine and report on vessels and other marinestructures during and after construction relative to compliancewith the applicable requirements for maintaining the vessel inClassification with ABS and meeting associated statutory andspecial service requirements related to the Safety of Life at Sea,Loadline, Tonnage, Cargo Gear, and Pollution PreventionCertification. When necessary, responsible for administering officeprocedures and monitoring business performance at an assignedport.

What You WillDo

• Acts asa professional specialist for the organization in the applicationof related rules, regulations, requirements, concepts, principles,and processes.
• Performs routine surveys onclassed vessels, platforms, or other marine structures and atmanufacturers for classification and compliance with statutoryrequirements.
• Prepares technically accurate andtimely reports of inspections and surveysperformed.
• Engages in contact with clients toresolve problems within areas ofexpertise.
• Maintains survey files in an orderlyand up-to-date manner in the area ofresponsibility.
• Maintains an active awarenessof new methods and developments affecting the technical scope ofassigned responsibilities and recommends changes in the surveyingprocesses and safety programs as warranted by such developments.Recommends new approaches to problems encountered and makes changesin methods, procedures, or design wherenecessary.
• Plans, schedules, and coordinatesvarious phases of surveying work and monitoring the quality ofservice on work performed.
• Monitors work andprojects performed by subordinate surveyors to ensure maintenanceof quality, content, consistency, and continuity of workperformed.
• Provides leadership, guidance, andtraining to lower-level and/or less experiencedsurveyors.
• Promotes the services andcapabilities of ABS to present and potentialcustomers.
  
  

What You WillNeed

Education &Experience

• Qualificationsfrom a tertiary institution within a relevant field of engineeringor physical science (minimum two (2) years program);or
• Qualifications from a marine or nauticalinstitution and relevant seagoing experience as a certificated shipofficer, and
• Minimum requirements &knowledge listed for Surveyor II.
• Minimum three(3) years of experience working as a SurveyorII.
• Understanding of ABS strategic technicalpositioning in their respective sector of the marine industryor
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in anEngineering or Survey Capacity with an IACS member ClassificationSociety
