Solutions Design Engineer(Contract Logistics)

Job Description: The Solution Design Engineer role, based in Melsele, Belgium, is integral to the Benelux team with a specific focus on the southern region of Belgium. Proficiency in French is essential due to this regional emphasis. The position primarily involves managing existing business and driving continuous improvement projects, akin to a project manager for smaller-scale initiatives. Responsibilities include RFQ analysis, cost calculations, and operational enhancements. Ideal candidates possess 2-6 years of experience in Logistics/Solution/Project Engineering, particularly in contract logistics. Proficiency in 3D drawing software such as AutoCad and SketchUp, as well as Microsoft Visio, is highly desirable. The client offers a competitive salary dependent on experience paired with holiday allowance (13.92 months), and a company car.

Job Overview: As a Solution & Design Engineer within the Contract Logistics Business Development team at Yusen Logistics, you'll be instrumental in devising optimal solutions for clients across various industries. Your role will involve working on medium to large-sized projects and contributing to team processes through the development of innovative tools.

Responsibilities:

* Design Excellence: Develop smart and innovative designs for new contracts and renewals in industries like Healthcare, Technology, Automotive, and Consumer Products.

* Proposal Response: Handle requests for proposals and contract renewals, ensuring the right cost balance for client success.

* Solution Modeling: Analyze, profile, and validate customer needs to model fulfillment and distribution processes accurately.

* Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, and IT teams to deliver solutions that increase customer value.

* Customer Presentations: Serve as a subject matter expert in sales solution presentations, effectively communicating solutions to a C-level audience.

* Continuous Improvement: Contribute to a culture of learning by standardizing and optimizing internal tools and processes based on best practices.

Qualifications:

* Experience: Minimum of 3 years in distribution, fulfillment, and/or 3PL environments.

* Proficient in supply chain sales solutions and solutions engineering.

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Economics.

* Language: Fluent or excellent knowledge of French (written and spoken).

* Analytical Skills: Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills. Ability to work in small project teams to develop and improve the cycle in Solution Design.

* Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel and 3D drawing software.

* Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of Warehouse Management Systems and industry-specific knowledge (healthcare, automotive, technology).
