Director of Engineering for a luxury hotel in Brussels

Your duties and responsibilities

1. Provide comprehensive advice on aspects of technical assistance, including environmental best practice and operational efficiency.
2. Manage the financial aspects of the Engineering Department, including budgeting and capital works programs.
3. Ensure cost control of maintenance activities and prepare departmental cost budgets.
4. Assist in the planning of capital projects and the efficient allocation of funds.
5. Maintain high standards of customer satisfaction by responding promptly to technical assistance needs.
6. Review safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and codes.
7. Ensure compliance with legal requirements by carrying out necessary tests and inspections in a timely manner.
8. Develop a team of qualified and motivated engineers to ensure technical competence.
9. Supervise external contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and technical efficiency.
10. Maintain high quality standards in all work carried out by internal staff and external contractors.
11. Represent the Engineering Department at management and associate meetings, encouraging collaboration between departments.

The Ideal profile

1. At least 5 years’ experience as an engineering manager.
2. Previous experience in luxury or ultra-luxury properties preferred (Hotel experience ideally).
3. Strong leadership skills, focused on trust, transparency and goal achievement.
4. Adaptability and problem-solving skills.
5. Good technical knowledge of buildings (both equipment and installations) and structural work.
6. Fluency in English required; fluency in French and Dutch an asset.
7. International experience preferred.
