Job Description - Association Officer - Mobility R&I

Position Summary

The consultant will support the management of the European Automotive Research Partners Association (EARPA). EARPA brings together the most prominent independent European R&D providers in the automotive sector. The goal of the association is to help its members actively contribute to the European Research Arena and the future EU research and technological development funding programmes in the field of mobility, covering e.g. electrification, net-zero mobility and connected and autonomous driving.

Main Duties

The Consultant will supporting the President and the Executive Board of the association in executing the yearly work programme of the association on a day-to-day basis.

The main tasks include:

  • Facilitate the monthly meetings of the Executive Board by preparing and following up on the strategic decisions taken;
  • Prepare, together with the Communication Officer, the two yearly events hosted by the Association;
  • Keep track of the ongoing R&I projects initiated by members of the Association;
  • Actively engage with the members of the Association. Follow up on enquiries by current members and engage with prospective members;
  • Support the Communication Officer by providing content for the EARPA publications (e.g. newsletter, website, social media, etc.);
  • Drafting position papers, press releases, articles, and reports to disseminate the messages to EU policymakers and media;
  • Preparing and participating in meetings with policymakers and trade associations;
  • Representing the Association in various meetings and events.

Requirements and Competencies

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in managing EU funded projects or in an European association;
  • Good knowledge of the workings of the European Union, especially regarding funding mechanisms for energy and mobility research (Horizon Europe in particular)
  • Previous experience within the mobility sector is an asset;
  • Experience with advising clients or members, especially on EU-related funding opportunities or policies;
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and plan to meet challenging deadlines ;
  • Capacity to collect, organise and analyse quantitative and qualitative data; 
  • Fluency in English is necessary; any additional European languages are an asset;
  • A university degree in a relevant field;
  • Excellent writing and oral presentation skills; public speaking experience a plus;
  • Ability to learn quickly and work on a wide range of issues;
  • Willingness to travel for work.
