Job Description - Aviation Consulting

Aviation Consultant

The role is ideally based in Brussels or Madrid (hybrid/remote options can be considered in case the right match is found)

The Story

Environmental compliance is becoming increasingly complex for aircraft operators, with some obligated under several different schemes including EU ETS, UK ETS, CORSIA and ReFuelEU Aviation. Awareness of their obligations and how to monitor and report successfully is key, and many organisations are seeking clear, structured expert guidance to understand what these obligations mean for their operations.

Vertis has been pioneering carbon markets since 2001. Our aviation team supports aircraft operators and aviation industry partners as they adapt to new environmental requirements and prepare for a low‑carbon future.

If you enjoy turning complex regulatory frameworks into practical, actionable guidance — and want to help aircraft operators navigate their ETS and CORSIA compliance and its expectations — this role is for you.

Your Role in This Story

As an Aviation Consultant, you will be a trusted advisor to aircraft operators working to understand and meet their emissions‑related obligations. You will apply analytical insight, sector knowledge, and strong communication skills to guide clients through regulatory requirements and long‑term compliance planning.

Consultancy & Technical Advisory

  • Lead consulting assignments from scoping to delivery with a focus on aviation environmental requirements, including ETS & CORSIA.

  • Support operators in interpreting and applying emissionsrelated obligations in a clear and operationally relevant way.

  • Produce wellstructured analyses, assessments, and recommendations for clients.

  • Track regulatory and industry developments and turn these into actionable insights.

  • Contribute to improving internal tools, templates, and methodologies used in aviation advisory work.

Client Relationship & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build longterm, trustbased relationships with aircraft operators, compliance teams, and aviation industry leads.

  • Represent Vertis at aviation events, workshops, and sector discussions.

  • Engage with regulators, verification bodies, and relevant industry stakeholders to stay aligned with evolving expectations.

  • Deliver presentations, briefings, and knowledgesharing sessions to client teams.

Sector Intelligence & Collaboration

  • Maintain an understanding of aviation emissions frameworks, including ETS and the evolving CORSIA landscape.

  • Collaborate with internal experts to strengthen Vertis’ aviation consulting capabilities.

  • Support thoughtleadership initiatives and contribute to Vertis visibility within the aviation industry.

You’re Likely a Great Fit if You…

Experience & Expertise

  • Bring 5+ years of experience in aviation sustainability, environmental compliance, aviation regulation, or technical aviation consulting.

  • Have experience supporting aircraft operators with environmental (ETS) compliance obligations, and ideally including exposure to CORSIA.

  • Possess strong technical understanding of emissionsrelated reporting or environmental expectations within aviation.

  • Have worked with an aircraft operator, aviation authorities, compliance bodies, technical aviation consultancies, or environmental regulators.

Skills & Attributes

  • You translate complex regulations into clear, practical guidance.

  • You have strong analytical and problemsolving skills.

  • You enjoy professional, advisorystyle client interaction and relationship management.

  • You communicate clearly and confidently.

  • You work effectively both independently and within a diverse, international team.

Other Requirements

  • Excellent English is essential; French or Spanish is a strong advantage.

  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, workshops, and aviation sector events.

What’s Offered

  • A meaningful role shaping how the aviation sector adapts to environmental compliance schemes and broader environmental expectations.

  • A position combining technical insight, advisory work, and direct client impact.

  • An international team across several European hubs.

  • The role is ideally based in Brusselsor Madrid, however flexible working arrangements are available

  • Competitive compensation with performancebased bonus.

  • Professional development opportunities in a growing and highly relevant field.

  • Access to aviation events, conferences, and learning programs.

In Summary

This role is ideal for aviation professionals who want to apply their regulatory and technical expertise to help aircraft operators navigate environmental requirements — in particular EU ETS, UK ETS and CORSIA — with clarity and confidence. If you want to guide meaningful change in the aviation sector, your next chapter starts here.
