About the Role

We’re seeking a BI Functional Analyst (Freelance) to join our client’s Data Management & Analytics team in Brussels for a 12-month mission. In this pivotal role, you’ll bridge business vision and technical execution, shaping data-driven solutions that empower decision-making and performance management. Your expertise will directly influence the evolution of a modern data platform, driving value across the organization.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Collaborating with business data analysts, domain experts, and project stakeholders to capture and refine reporting, analytics, and data requirements


• Translating business needs into actionable, high-quality data solutions and robust functional specifications


• Ensuring traceability between business requirements, business rules, and delivered data products


• Designing and evolving enterprise data warehouse, datamart, and analytical data models


• Defining source-to-target mappings and integration logic for scalable data flows


• Profiling operational data sources, identifying data quality issues, and driving resolution


• Validating business rules and solution integrity throughout the delivery lifecycle


• Defining and executing functional tests to ensure solution reliability and business alignment


• Contributing to project success by assessing impacts, risks, and dependencies, and providing expert recommendations


• Championing continuous improvement in data governance, delivery practices, and stakeholder collaboration

Technical Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Business Intelligence/Data Analytics Analyst or Consultant (Senior level)


• Strong background in functional analysis within Data, BI, or Analytics environments


• Expertise in data modeling (dimensional modeling, star schema, data integration flows)


• Hands-on experience with reporting, data warehousing, and analytical solutions


• Experience gathering and formalizing business requirements


• Demonstrated ability to conceptualize processes and data domains


• Experience as a BI Functional Analyst in at least two distinct business sectors


• Familiarity with modern data platforms and cloud technologies is a plus


• Experience with Power BI (preferred)


• Experience with SAS Data Integration, SAS Enterprise Guide (EG), and SAS Visual Analytics (SAS VA) (preferred)


• Experience in the Utilities sector is an advantage


• Certification or proven experience as a Project Manager is a plus

Language Proficiency

• Fluent in French or Dutch, with at least passive knowledge of the other

Other Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent


• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments is a plus
