The Role

What does an contract engineer do at Atlas Copco?

As contract engineer, you will be part of a team dedicated to providing custom modifications to our standard range of products for our clients. You will be the customers spoc for their unique, out of catalogue requists.

The role is two-fold:

Firstly, you serve as the primary point of contact, both internally and externally. Once the client accepts our proposal and it becomes a contract, you take charge of planning and overseeing the technical and financial aspects, documentation, and delivery schedules.

When obstacles arise that threaten the planned timing and quality, you are the problem-solver. This brings us to the second aspect of the role: design. Your mission is to ensure the project progresses smoothly, offering the client the most optimal solution while maintaining the product's quality, safety, and cost.

Your main responsibilities as a contract engineer include:

• coordination: You are responsible for the product's quality, safety, and budget. You coordinate the project across various internal functions (quotation engineers, design department, procurement, MPC, production, testing, document control, shipping, and invoicing) and external functions (customer centers, suppliers, and inspection mechanisms).


• follow-up: Upon receiving an order, you evaluate the contract description with the design department, MPC, document controller, and the quotation engineer. You ensure the order is processed in BPCS/POLS and dispatched.


• knowledge sharing: You ensure correct and timely communication with the client, discuss the work to be done with production, and determine the most efficient approach to execute the order. You ensure that the correct documents (manuals, parts lists, certificates, etc.) are delivered accurately and on time to the customer center.

What do you need to succeed?

We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills who can combine technical knowledge with commercial realism. Someone who enjoys working in a team, motivates others, and is not deterred by challenging client demands. Additionally, you should have:

• A solid technical background, either as an Industrial Engineer or equivalent through experience


• Fluency in both Dutch and English


• Proficiency with IT tools
