Job Description - EU Affairs Officer

We are currently looking for an EU Affairs Officer – Defence to join our Brussels Office.


In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing developments in European security and defence policy, supporting the company’s advocacy efforts, and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders across EU institutions, NATO, national governments, and the defence industry. You will contribute to the development and implementation of our EU affairs strategy, with a primary focus on defence-related matters, while also supporting broader cross-cutting EU policy initiatives.


 


Your role will encompass:



  • Monitor and assess legislative, regulatory, and policy developments related to European security and defence at EU and international level

  • Support the design and implementation of advocacy strategies and engagement plans on defence-related topics

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across EU institutions, NATO, Ministries of Defence, industry associations, and the wider defence ecosystem

  • Identify opportunities and risks arising from evolving European defence policies and provide timely analysis and recommendations

  • Represent the company in relevant meetings, conferences, working groups, and industry forums in Brussels and beyond

  • Contribute to the preparation of policy positions, briefing notes, stakeholder mapping exercises, and advocacy materials

  • Facilitate effective coordination and information sharing between the Brussels office and internal stakeholders

  • Support broader EU affairs activities and cross-functional projects, contributing to the overall objectives of the EU Affairs team


 


What you bring to the role:



  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Relations, European Studies, Security Studies, Defence Studies, or a related field; postgraduate studies in security and defence will be considered an asset

  • At least 4 years of professional experience in European and/or international defence and security affairs

  • Solid understanding of EU and NATO institutions, decision-making processes, and policy development mechanisms related to security and defence

  • Proven knowledge of current developments and policy initiatives shaping the European defence landscape

  • Experience in public affairs, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, or government relations, preferably in Brussels

  • Good understanding of European defence industry dynamics and defence procurement frameworks at both B2B and B2G level

  • Established network of contacts within EU institutions, NATO, defence industry stakeholders, Ministries of Defence, and related organizations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; good knowledge of French is required, while German will be considered an asset

  • Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
