About the Role

RELYzIT Talent is seeking a highly skilled F5/Palo Alto Network Security Specialist for a freelance engagement with our client, a leader in ICT systems architecture and security innovation. You will play a pivotal role in the ABIS (Automated Biometric Identification System) project, a mission-critical platform supporting thousands of police officers 24/7. Your expertise will directly impact national security, ensuring robust, resilient, and secure infrastructure for one of Belgium’s most vital public safety systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructure for the ABIS project, focusing on F5 and Palo Alto technologies


• Monitor and enforce security policies, ensuring compliance and best practices across all systems


• Oversee infrastructure-related changes, proactively identifying and resolving issues to maintain system integrity and uptime


• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and security incidents, including crisis situations such as organized attacks, intrusions, and virus outbreaks


• Advise on technical solutions to secure connections with external partners, intranet, and internet


• Monitor project progress and infrastructure health, using advanced monitoring and log correlation tools


• Manage and resolve support tickets related to the ABIS infrastructure


• Document technical solutions, interventions, and outcomes in clear, actionable reports


• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to ongoing innovation and R&D initiatives

Technical Skills

• Confirmed expertise with BIG IP F5, including APM, ASM, AWAF, and LTM modules


• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls and application security


• Proficiency with monitoring and log correlation tools: Splunk, Nessus, ELK


• Strong understanding of routers, stateful packet inspection firewalls, and application firewalls


• Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SSL, and SNMP protocols

Other Requirements

• Freelance position: Project duration until 31/12/2026, with possible extension into 2027


• Full-time commitment (40 hours/week, 220 days/year)


• Partial remote work: Office presence required at least 2 times per week, with flexibility for remote work within Belgium


• Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team of internal and external experts


• Ability to participate in meetings with specialists and user representatives
