About the Role
Our client is seeking a Junior ICT Expert to join their Cyberops team as a Security Incident Response Expert. This freelance opportunity is your chance to make a real impact in the social economy, helping to safeguard critical digital infrastructure. You’ll be at the frontline of cyber defense, ensuring that every incident is handled with precision, confidentiality, and a builder’s mindset. This is a 12-month freelance assignment based in Melle, Belgium.

As a Security Incident Response Expert, you’ll be instrumental in protecting our client’s operations, reputation, and mission. Your work will directly contribute to the prevention, detection, and resolution of security incidents, ensuring business continuity and digital trust. The stakes are high: your expertise will help shape a safer digital future for the social economy.
What You’ll Be Doing
Support 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line teams during security incident handling, coordinating responses according to established procedures
Take ownership of 2nd line operational tasks within the incident response process
Ensure the highest quality in applying and optimizing the incident response process
Drive collaboration between IT call center, SOC, IT service providers, and internal departments
Handle all incidents with strict confidentiality and professionalism
Provide clear, actionable reporting on security incidents
Escalate serious cyber incidents to the CSIRT, acting as a key point of contact for both client and SOC
Coordinate the correct and timely handling of escalated incidents
Approve security-related requests in the RFF process
Contribute to the registration, monitoring, and mitigation of security risks
Champion the client’s information security mission and encourage best practices among colleagues and vendors
Translate security guidelines and policies into operational procedures and work instructions
Collaborate closely with internal helpdesk, SOC, operational IT teams, and vendors
Be mobile and willing to relocate to other client locations if necessary (sporadically, max 1x per month)
Technical Skills & Experience
Demonstrable experience as a SOC analyst (minimum 1 year, junior level)
Hands-on experience with similar security technologies (minimum 1 year, junior level)
Proven experience with the MISP platform (minimum 1 year, junior level)
Experience with vulnerability management (minimum 1 year, junior level)
Technical knowledge and experience with Windows and Linux Servers
Technical knowledge and experience with Crowdstrike (junior level)
Technical knowledge with Tenable (junior level)
Higher education (Master or Bachelor) with a technical/engineering background, or equivalent experience in ICT technology
CCNA certificate (must be uploaded with your application)
Completed specific training/education as a SOC Analyst
