Position

As Legal Counsel, you are a trusted advisor to the business and play a key role in supporting Smappee's international growth. You provide pragmatic legal guidance across a broad range of topics, helping teams make informed decisions while managing legal and compliance risks. Working closely with colleagues across Sales, Procurement, Finance, HR, Product Management and Operations, you ensure legal considerations support rather than slow down the business.

Responsibilties

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements with customers, suppliers and partners.
• Provide legal support during commercial negotiations and develop practical contract templates.
• Support corporate matters, including corporate housekeeping and international expansion projects.
• Monitor relevant legislation and help develop and implement internal policies and compliance initiatives.
• Advise the business on GDPR and privacy matters, including contracts, documentation and data protection questions.
• Manage and protect Smappee's intellectual property portfolio in collaboration with external IP specialists.
• Coordinate the group's insurance program and support insurance claims and risk management activities.
• Manage legal disputes and claims, coordinating external legal advisors where needed.

• You have a Master's degree in Law.
• You have at least 3 years of experience as an in-house legal counsel or attorney.
• You posses strong knowledge of commercial contracts and corporate law.
• Experience with GDPR and privacy legislation is a strong asset.
• Experience in an international and fast-growing business environment is a plus.
• You communicate clearly and build strong relationships across the business.
• You combine a pragmatic mindset with strong business insight and enjoy finding practical solutions.
• You communicate fluently in Dutch and English.
