Maintenance Supervisor / Mechanic

Purpose of the role 

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for all activities related to our “shooter” equipment at client site (Ghent, Belgium). During machine operations, you supervise customer teams consisting of operators who perform tasks with our equipment according to their project requirements. During downtime, you carry out maintenance and ensure equipment reliability. 

In addition to these shooter-related tasks, you will also be involved in: 

• Product trials. 

• Maintaining stock levels. 

• 3D laser scanning. 

• Various other tasks on the steel plant related to Vesuvius’ activities. 

Your main responsibilities 

• Work in accordance with all Vesuvius and customer HSE requirements. 

• Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns. 

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance. 

• Monitor equipment use and installation by subcontractors. 

• Provide daily activity and equipment usage reports to Vesuvius and the customer. 

• Train new operators when required. 

• Maintain maintenance logs and records. 

• Ensure adequate stock levels of spare parts on site. 

• Collaborate with other departments on equipment improvements or modifications. 

• Ensure adherence to corporate governance and compliance standards. 

• Degree in mechanical engineering.  

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintaining industrial equipment. 

• Fluent in English or Dutch (both would be ideal). 

• Pro-active and self-driven mindset. 

• Flexible.
