Job Description - Medical Affairs Specialist - Vascular - EMEA

To support our EMEA organization, we are looking for a Medical Affairs Specialist EMEA to be based at our EMEA Headquarters in Diegem, Belgium. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine scientific expertise with regional Medical Affairs coordination in a highly international environment. This position is initially offered as a one‑year contract.
What You’ll Do
Provide scientific and strategic support for Endovascular Medical Affairs activities across EMEA, acting as a key link between the Endovascular medical team, internal stakeholders, and external clinical experts
Lead and coordinate EMEA Medical Affairs projects, including Medical Advisory Boards, regional meetings, and Endovascular symposia, ensuring high‑quality scientific content, flawless execution, and full compliance
Oversee Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS) across EMEA, including scientific review, operational oversight, financial tracking (invoicing, accruals, Last Best Estimate cycles), and accurate system reporting
Serve as the EMEA expert for Medical Affairs systems and processes, ensuring data accuracy, transparency, and adherence to internal quality and compliance standards
Collaborate closely with EMEA Medical Affairs, Marketing, Finance, and local Abbott Vascular affiliates, and contribute Endovascular scientific expertise to internal education, onboarding, and congress preparation
What We’re Looking For
Scientific degree in Life Sciences (PharmD, MSc, BSc or equivalent)
Experience in Medical Affairs is strongly preferred
Strong scientific rigor and analytical capabilities; experience in Endovascular or cardiovascular therapies is an asset
Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a matrix organization
Familiarity with financial workflows (invoicing, accruals, budget tracking)
High attention to detail, strong process orientation, and a compliance‑driven mindset
Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills in an international environment
Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively across functions
Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset
