Each one shows margin impact, sell-through, and other relevant KPI's. They pick one, hit approve, and the decision flows straight into their ERP. The engine, the API, the integration: crafted by a seasoned full-stack developer like you.

In April 2024, we released Markmi, the markdown management assistant for fashion retailers that helps merchandising teams make faster, confident, and more profitable pricing decisions. Markmi replaces outdated spreadsheets with a fashion-specific workflow that combines industry expertise with the latest in AI. By automating the complex parts of markdown planning, it frees up teams to focus on what really matters: weighing trade-offs and choosing the best scenario. Retailers typically experience a margin improvement of 3% to 7% and an 80% to 95% reduction in workload.

Today, we're a 10-person team based in Ghent, serving mid and large size fashion retailers EU-wide, generating €750K+ in annual recurring revenue.

With a solid product and proven traction, we've entered our next exciting phase: scaling our presence across international markets. More enterprise clients, more complex integrations, more pressure on the platform to perform reliably under load.

🎯 The Role

As our Senior Full-Stack Engineer (backend-focused), you'll act as a core technical driver during a high-growth transition period. This is a role for a builder who thrives in high-autonomy environments, mainly takes ownership of backend development, and wants to ship mission-critical features directly to customers. Experience applying AI/ML in a product engineering context is a strong plus.

🚀 Your Responsibilities

Feature Execution

• Own and drive backend feature development end-to-end, designing, building, testing, and deploying across the full stack where needed

• Ship mission-critical functionality directly to enterprise customers

System Performance & Scale

• Lead deep dives into our Python/FastAPI backend, and React frontend where relevant, to ensure performance, scalability, and enterprise-grade stability

• Provision and evolve cloud resources yourself when the work calls for it

Technical Quality & Security

• Maintain high standards through rigorous documentation, clean architecture, and a security-first mindset

• Embed secure coding practices, threat modelling, and compliance considerations into everything you build

Infrastructure & Reliability

• Take co-ownership of our GCP infrastructure managed through Terraform

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability, and platform reliability at enterprise scale

🧠 What We're Looking For

Experience & Background

• Deep, senior-level expertise in backend engineering, comfortable across the full stack

• Hands-on experience with our stack: Python (FastAPI), TypeScript, React, Terraform, GCP, SQL (BigQuery), and authentication providers (Auth0)

• Fluent English for collaborating with our diverse, multi-national team

• Bonus points: hands-on experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into production software, whether LLM-powered features, model APIs, or applying ML to real product problems
