The Division
Within the People & Organisation Division, the Group HR Legal & Social Relations team:
Manages HR legal matters and coordinates employee relations with social partners at Group level.
Provides legal advice and guidance to HR and business clients across a broad range of individual employment-related cases/
Monitors developments in Belgian and European employment legislation and assesses their impact on the organisation.
Advises on required changes to internal policies and practices and supports their implementation. For countries with Euroclear Representative offices, partners with external legal counsel to assess and implement necessary changes.
Coordinates and manages social dialogue bodies at local and European level, including the Works Council, Committee for Prevention and Protection at Work, Union delegation, related working groups, and the European Works Council.
The team
The team is currently looking for an HR Lawyer in charge of both individual HR Legal files and Employee Relations files.
The role
The job holder will have to:
Support the HR Legal team members and provide legal counsel to internal HR and business clients in a wide variety of HR legal files: analyze options considering the business context, striving for a balanced solution between company needs and employee interest and implement the solution through legal documents. These situations cover terminations, end of career solutions, change of employment contracts between Euroclear companies, mergers & acquisitions, etc.
Lead working groups with Social partners on a variety of topics such as Overtime & Holiday, Special working schedules, Policies & Employment regulations, new technologies, etc. in order to prepare and ideally obtain a consensus before reporting the outcome of the debates to the official body, be it the Works Council, the Committee for Prevention & Protection at Work or the Union Delegation.
Prepare and coordinate HR Legal projects covering different countries (update of employee handbooks, review of employment contracts & conditions, questions regarding work permits, pension, ...)
Act as a consultant to line managers and People Partners regarding working schedules, watch duty regimes, working time matters, etc.
Follow-up on new legislation on labour law, recommend changes and ensure implementation with a specific focus on GDPR.
Your Profile
You are a lawyer with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in labour law and/or Employee Relations in Belgium (e.g. consultancy, law firms, HR teams within larger organizations…)
Strong interest in HR combined with solid business acumen
Able to take a helicopter view, make sound decisions, and work autonomously
Delivers high- quality, value-added support to internal stakeholders
Capable of designing practical and innovative solutions tailored to business needs
Clear and concise communicator, both verbally and in writing
Assertive while maintaining a diplomatic approach
Comfortable managing complex employee relations matters, conflicts, and crisis situations
Strong influencing skills and resilient under stress
Fluent in English, French and Dutch
Master' degree in Law, ideally with a specialization in Employment Law
