As a Senior ICT Architect, you will be instrumental in designing and evolving mission-critical applications that underpin the digital backbone of the Flemish government. Your architectural vision will enable secure, scalable, and future-proof data integration, supporting proactive public services and seamless data sharing. The stakes are high: your work will reduce administrative burdens, accelerate decision-making, and help realize a government that is truly information-driven.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Shape the vision and roadmap for key digital products and services, including Automatic Advice and MAGDA Mock, in close collaboration with the Product Owner and stakeholders.


• Lead architectural decisions, ensuring maintainability, scalability, and coherence across applications and services.


• Model business processes and information flows, translating complex technical possibilities into actionable, future-oriented solutions.


• Facilitate open communication and collaborative design within a proactive, high-performing team of developers and architects.


• Document architectural decisions and translate them into clear, actionable guidelines for the team.


• Support exploratory projects and strategic studies for new applications and service delivery concepts, such as integrating Automatic Advice into local authority platforms.


• Contribute to the broader Data Integration team, aligning with department architects and adhering to architecture board guidelines.


• Champion frameworks, infrastructure, and decisions that prioritize business value, quality, and reliability.


• Monitor and advise on the coherence and evolution of products within the Data Integration domain.


• Drive the further development of business rule management solutions for scalability and long-term vision.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a specialist architect in at least one domain (networking, security, server infrastructure, application architecture, ERP, ECM platforms, Data warehouse and BI) or as an Enterprise Architect.


• Demonstrable experience with service integrators (e.g., Magda, BOSA, KSZ).


• Expertise in analyzing, modeling, and optimizing business processes and information flows.


• Track record of developing solution architectures in complex organizations where business and technical objectives are aligned.


• Hands-on experience with SOAP API development and integration architecture.


• Mastery of modeling techniques: Archimate, TOGAF, UML, Sparx EA.


• Practical experience with Java and the Spring Boot framework.


• Experience with REST APIs, BPMN, and digital transformation in complex organizations (preferred).


• Experience with stakeholder management, facilitating workshops, and coaching teams on analysis and development (nice to have).


• Familiarity with proactive service delivery, rule management, or decision support systems (nice to have).


• Experience within the Flemish government or similar public sector environments (preferred).

Language Proficiency

• Fluency in Dutch at European CEFR level C2 is mandatory.

Other Requirements

• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of business processes and project management facets (costs, timing, coordination, planning, estimates).


• Signed NDA document required prior to engagement.


• Alignment with Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern architectural standards.
