(Senior) Project Manager Innovation

LIBIS is an IT organisation and scientific service provider of KU Leuven, responsible for the digital management of various collections and research data of KU Leuven and other partners.
LIBIS is actively involved in national and European projects for the development of data infrastructure and services to support scientific research, innovative access to cultural heritage, etc. In this context, we are looking for a new colleague to strengthen the project team. Our projects focus on emerging research and innovation themes related to data management and analysis (e.g. FAIR, long-term preservation, AI...), different types of data (research data, heritage collections...) and innovative forms of access (data visualisation, metaverse...).

Functieomschrijving As a Project Manager, you will be (co-)responsible within the team for various projects related to the development of data-driven infrastructure and related services. 

• You will gain knowledge of new topics for project initiation or new opportunities for which a proposal needs to be written.
• You will build substantive expertise in data architecture, interoperability, preservation and access. You will gain new insights and formulate new ideas to improve processes and applications for good data management (FAIR principles, standards, etc.). 
• You will collect user stories and develop specifications based on these stories. You will discuss these with stakeholders and the project team and develop them into a supported plan.
• You will manage projects for which you will prepare and follow up the plan in consultation with colleagues and stakeholders. You will also ensure good reporting on project progress.
• You will translate your knowledge into sound reports (project deliverables).
• Participate in the execution of projects, including testing applications, providing feedback to IT specialists, and writing documentation.
• Participate in and manage consultations with various stakeholder groups. You will use a variety of working methods and translate the outcome of the consultation into clear reports and actions.
• You will focus on active communication and regularly give presentations in an international context to highlight the work and results of the project. You will write PR texts for the website, newsletters, etc. related to ongoing projects.
• You will look for new project opportunities and partnerships. Helping to write new project proposals.

Profiel

• You obtained a Master's degree or you are equivalent through experience.
• You have a feel for data and are willing to learn quickly about new trending topics and areas of knowledge as part of new projects. You can rely on IT specialists for technical advice and implementation, but technical understanding and analytical insight are necessary.
• You are a natural networker and enjoy liaising with different stakeholders and colleagues.
• You have experience in organising and facilitating different types of consultations and stakeholder interactions (workshops, brainstorming sessions, formal meetings...) in physical, online and hybrid contexts.
• Experience in developing project proposals is an advantage.
• You are a team player who works well with colleagues, both inside and outside LIBIS.
• You can act independently and proactively to move a project forward and turn ideas into results.
• You are able to work under stress and in a project-oriented manner, paying attention to deadlines and quality results.
• You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Dutch is an advantage.

Aanbod A full-time or part-time (at least 80%), open-ended position. If you are immediately capable of handling all tasks associated with this position, you will start in grade 8. Promising candidates who may not be able to take on all tasks immediately or neet to complete a specific training trajectory, will start in grade 7.
