Web user Experience

Job description:

The Web User Experience Specialist will be part of the “Conception” department for our client at the European Parliament.

Responsibilities:

• Gather and document business needs, objectives, and priorities from stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational strategies and project goals.


• Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications and workflows, clearly communicating these to design and development teams to guide project execution.


• Collaborate with technical teams to assess feasibility, address constraints and propose solutions, and ensure the seamless integration of the European Parliament’s design system within existing / new applications and infrastructure.


• Promote the adoption of the design system by organising presentations, providing support and fostering alignment between stakeholders, functional, editorial, and technical teams.


• Analyse and assess the existing information architecture across various websites. Develop a comprehensive information architecture strategy that aligns project goals and user needs, leveraging the top tasks methodology.


• Design and document taxonomies, navigation models, and metadata structures, as well as best practices for content categorisation, tagging, and indexing.


• Provide training and documentation for internal teams on information architecture principles and the top tasks methodology.


• Monitoring and reporting: analyse and follow up on the implementation of the design system and the top task methodology and recommend optimisations or realignment if applicable.

The following qualifications, experience and skills are required:

• Experience in gathering and documenting business needs, objectives, and priorities in an institutional context


• Experience in web development processes and in content management systems


• Experience in information architecture, UX design, or content strategy


• Strong understanding of user experience principles, usability testing methodologies and accessibility standards


• Expertise in taxonomy development, content modelling and metadata structuring


• Thorough experience of working with HTML and CSS


• Previous experience working on large-scale, multilingual websites


• Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and communicate/present complex information architecture concepts to non-technical audiences


• Ability to define and adjust strategies, report, document and present findings, and translate them for different audiences


• Ability to organise, prioritise and plan task execution


• Problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills


• Attention to detail, analytical and critical thinking and autonomy


• Experience in customer support / service desk in multilingual and multicultural environments is an asset
• Master's degree or Bachelor's degree + 4 years of working experience


• Good written and oral skills (in English)
