Job Description - Category manager Logistics

As Category manager Logistics , you will be responsible for purchasing following logistics services: road transport, seafreight, air & express services and warehousing. In this position you will work closely with key stakeholders on a global level. You will build effective cross functional working relationships and actively participate in projects. You will report directly to the Head of Global Procurement.

Responsibilities :

  • As the responsible for the category spend, you define strategy and projects to ensure an efficient E2E business support. Supplier relationship is one of the key areas of responsibilities: define performance metrics (service levels, KPIs, …), manage communications (daily operations escalations, inquires, …) as well as contract negotiations. .
  • You focus on maximizing the transactional cost reduction through supplier management (reliable suppliers in terms of financial position, quality and service delivered within stable or reduced price for the goods/ services rendered), spend management, and optimize supply portfolio. You become a change management and project management leader within Logistics category towards your stake holders

More specifically within the Logistics category:

Understand and collects category needs for logistics with internal stakeholders.

  • Collects supply market intelligence and analysis.
  • Develops and executes a long-term sourcing strategy delivering the required cost improvements and raising the customer satisfaction.
  • End-responsible for supplier performance.
  • Assess and establish appropriate contractual approaches towards suppliers.
  • End-responsible for supplier portfolio. Systematically assesses supplier performance with the aim to optimize supply base.
  • Act as a catalyst by facilitating open and effective communication with all stakeholders in the organization about the consequences of the sourcing strategy and the price/market development.Applies strong project management skills on agreed sourcing strategy development projects.
  • Maintains and promotes social, ethical and organizational standards.
  • You negotiate contracts, terms & conditions, letter of intents.
  • You actively contribute to continuously purchasing processes improvement. (Risk management, pricing volatility, working capital, inventory, payment terms, …) on a project management based approach. (scoping, risk management, time-management)

Desired skills & experience:

  • You have a master degree in Logistics / Supply chain management or equivalent through experience.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in Purchasing, or Logistics environment
  • You master the logistics business dynamics in all its forms : road, sea and air freight.. and how cost drivers play.
  • Good interpersonal skills in order to successfully operate and co-operate with internal customers, suppliers, virtual team
  • Eager in achieving results (drive, resilience, result oriented attitude) and willing to lead change.
  • Continuous learning attitude (tools, processes, ...)
  • You have strong negotiation skills
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • You have a solid knowledge of English, any other language is an asset.
  • Possible location of employment: Mortsel, Belgium; Wiesbaden, Germany
