Reliable alarming and monitoring of patients is fundamental in today's healthcare system. Televic Healthcare (THC) offers professional communication systems within the care sector for nurse call, patient localization and mobile alarming.

The traditional nurse call system has been used in healthcare facilities for decades, enabling patients to request assistance from nurses or other caregivers. However, the nurse call system has certain limitations, such as the inability to provide patients with additional information or resources related to their health and care.

In recent years, mobile apps have gained popularity in healthcare, providing patients with access to a variety of health-related information or hospitality features. Apps can also be used to facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers, potentially enhancing the nurse call system.

The aim of this master thesis project is to explore the potential use of mobile applications (apps) in enhancing the nurse call portfolio, by assessing whether apps can be effectively used by patients/residents as an additional communication tool to improve their care experience.
