Overview of the position: Hours: Part-time (80%) Starting date: As soon as possible Duration: 12-months limited contract with the possibility of extension based on availability of funds Location: remotely in Brussels, Belgium, with travels to Berlin, Germany Department & reporting line: Executive Office, reporting to Head of Strategic Partnerships
Your main tasks:
You oversee and lead strategic outreach and build strong partnerships with the EU (EEAS, Commission)
You support and advise on funding opportunities to the EU, including grant-writing
You monitor relevant policy developments and funding mechanisms, build strong relationships and create new opportunities for collaboration
You coordinate Berghof Foundation’s internal contacts, touch points and relationships with EU actors and peacebuilding organisations and act as the first point of contact in Brussels
You build a systematic knowledge base and introduce suitable formats for advancing internal understanding of the EU
You advance evidence-based policy-influencing with MEPs and key decision-makers at EEAS and Commission, covering key themes such as insider mediation, the climate–conflict nexus and MHPSS and mediation
You provide advice on advocacy opportunities and lead the creation of policy positions and initiatives, in collaboration with senior advisors and like-minded organisations
You contribute to relevant discussions and regularly attend conferences and roundtables in the EU policy scene in Brussels
You hold a Master degree within relevant fields such as Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, International Relations or similar
You have 7+ years relevant work experience, of which the majority working in Brussels
Proven experience in developing, negotiating and managing partnerships and coalitions with the EU, ideally in the field of peacebuilding/peace mediation
Experience in proposal writing and policy monitoring and trend spotting of relevant developments
Strong organizational and networking, communication and coordination skills
Excellent cross-functional and remote collaboration skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English

Ability to work under time-pressure

The contract duration of the part-time position is limited to 12 months, depending on the availability of project funds. Please note that this position is based in Brussels, with occasional visits to the head office in Berlin.
