The role in brief…

Account Directors are true leaders, both for the agency’s clients and for colleagues.

You have mastered the art of international client communication and are adept at building long-lasting relationships and delivering creative and valuable campaigns.

You will oversee senior client relationships and be responsible for new business activities. Fluent English and an international mindset is a must.

You are skilled in developing effective strategic communication solutions, and in guiding individuals and organizations to accept, adopt and pursue them.

You inspire trust and confidence in others, through your ability to listen and persuade by providing thoughtful, considered counsel.

You understand the importance and value of relationship-building, and nurture deep, long-lasting relationships with clients, influencers and others.

You are highly organized, with a positive attitude and entrepreneurial streak.

As a future agency leader, you have a keen managerial acumen and you’re a role model and mentor for junior staff.

You will be an ambassador for Sherlock Communications, to both internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities:

Client Service:

  • Accountable for the quality and success of client programs; responsible for developing and directing the implementation of programs that meet clients’ agreed communication goals, and contribute to meeting their stated commercial objectives, within agreed timescales and budgets
  • Build and maintain an understanding of clients’ businesses, their industry sectors, issues, challenges and opportunities
  • Act as senior strategic counsel to clients, ensuring alignment and delivering against communication and commercial goals
  • Accountable for the quality control of all client-facing materials
  • Adept at thinking and planning ahead, anticipating client needs while proactively recommending strategic and creative solutions
  • Capable of handling any client concerns promptly and effectively, keeping senior management appraised at all times, while identifying potential issues with the health of the client relationship, success of the program or make-up of the account team alerting senior management in a timely manner, recommending potential solutions
  • Ensure we measure, evaluate and report on client programs in line with best practice, tracking against clients’ commercial goals
  • Lead all aspects of financial performance management for key client engagements (i.e., client budgets, team capacity, planning and vendor management)
  • Ability to manage client engagements and projects
  • Ensure the application of best practice, measurement and evaluation of client programs

Team Development:

  • Leading other team members and supporting their professional and career development. Acting as a mentor and role model for the whole team.
  • Supporting continued professional development and learning activity for team members, ensuring that there are adequate resources, time and budgets in place to support this.
  • Heavily involved in recruitment planning, process and selection.
  • 100% committed to the personal and professional development of the team.

Business development:

  • Presenting and leading the development of new business proposals pitches.
  • Negotiating client contracts and fees, explaining and justify the value of agency charges.
  • Developing potential client relationships, partnering with the Business Development team on marketing activities and events
  • Collaborating with other senior leaders to establish overall operational and financial performance measures for the agency. Monitoring, analysing and reporting on company performance against those measures.

Your experience:

We will be reviewing candidates from a variety of backgrounds, but all will have gained eight years successful agency experience in senior client-facing and account management roles, working with international clients.
