Act as the gatekeeper for new component introduction and approval in ECAD/PLM workflows;

Ensure selected parts meet design specifications, reliability expectations, safety and regulatory requirements, manufacturability needs, supply availability, and cost targets;

Review component requests from electrical, power electronics, and PCB design teams;

Promote reuse of approved components and reduce unnecessary part proliferation across product lines;

Define and maintain approved manufacturers, alternates, and second-source strategies for critical components.

ECAD/PLM Library Management:

Own and maintain the electrical component library in ECAD and PLM systems;

Ensure component records are accurate, standardized, complete, and properly linked across systems;

Manage the creation, review, and release of schematic symbols, PCB footprints, 3D models, parametric data, datasheets, compliance documents, and manufacturer part information;

Define and enforce library standards, naming conventions, metadata requirements, lifecycle states, and approval workflows;

Perform periodic library audits and cleanup activities to maintain data quality and consistency.

Lifecycle, Obsolescence & Supply Chain Risk:

Monitor component lifecycle status, PCNs, EOL notices, availability, lead times, and supply chain risks;

Work with engineering and supply chain teams to identify alternates, replacements, and risk mitigation plans;

Support cost reduction, supply continuity, and design-for-availability initiatives;

Engage with component manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers to obtain technical, compliance, quality, and roadmap information;

Engineering & Manufacturing Support:

Support component-related design reviews, derating discussions, reliability assessments, and manufacturability reviews;

Collaborate with PCB designers to ensure symbols and footprints meet design, manufacturing, and assembly requirements;

Partner with NPI, manufacturing, quality, and data management teams to resolve component or library-related issues;

Train and support engineering teams on component approval processes, library usage, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related technical field;

  • 4+ years of experience in component engineering, electrical hardware engineering, PCB design support, or ECAD/PLM library management;

  • Strong understanding of electronic components, including passives, semiconductors, connectors, magnetics, power devices, protection devices, sensors, and electromechanical components;

  • Hands-on experience with ECAD and PLM systems such as Altium, Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, Arena, Agile PLM, Teamcenter, or similar platforms;

  • Experience managing schematic symbols, PCB footprints, component parameters, datasheets, manufacturer part numbers, approved vendors, and lifecycle data;

  • Familiarity with environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements such as RoHS, REACH, UL, IEC, or other relevant standards;

  • Experience with power electronics, industrial electronics, energy systems, or automotive electronics is preferred;

  • Strong attention to detail, ownership mindset, communication skills, and ability to work effectively with global cross-functional teams and external suppliers;
