About the role
The Editorial & Content Manager will lead the entire content ecosystem of SportyNet, overseeing original productions, partner shows, live broadcasts, and all on-air talent. This role is responsible for establishing the editorial vision, ensuring cohesive and high-quality content across all platforms, managing the creative pipeline, and driving strategic decisions that shape the channel’s identity. The manager will work closely with production teams, rights holders, talents, and commercial partners to deliver compelling sports entertainment aligned with the channel’s positioning.
What you'll be doing
Editorial Leadership & Content Strategy
- Define and maintain the editorial line, tone of voice, and content standards for all channel productions
- Develop the annual content strategy, including original shows, partner formats, special series, and event coverage
- Identify storytelling opportunities, audience trends, and innovative formats to strengthen engagement
- Ensure consistency and alignment of content across linear TV, digital platforms, and social channels
Programming & Production Oversight
- Oversee the development, production, and delivery of original shows and specials
- Approve scripts, rundowns, editorial guidelines, and content treatments
- Coordinate with production, creative, and technical teams to ensure timely and high-quality execution
- Supervise the integration of partner content into the schedule, ensuring adherence to editorial and technical standards
- Work closely with scheduling and planning teams to map programming grids and maximize content performance
Talent & On-Air Team Management
- Lead relationships with presenters, commentators, analysts, and contributors
- Oversee talent briefing, alignment of editorial expectations, and content preparation
- Support casting decisions, performance evaluations, and ongoing talent development
Live Broadcast & Event Content Coordination
- Guide editorial direction during live broadcasts, including sports events, breaking news, and special programming
- Align with rights holders regarding editorial requirements, content usage rights, and storytelling opportunities
- Ensure real-time decision-making during live productions, maintaining editorial integrity and audience value
Partnerships & Rights Holders Interface
- Manage editorial coordination with partners providing shows, segments, or licensed content. Guarantee compliance with contractual guidelines, editorial expectations, and delivery timelines
- Collaborate with partner producers to enhance content quality and audience resonance
Cross-Platform Content Integration
- Ensure seamless adaptation of TV content for digital platforms
- Collaborate with digital teams to maximize reach, engagement, and brand consistency
- Guide editorial extensions such as highlights, clips, behind-the-scenes, and special formats
Team Management & Workflow Structure
- Lead a multidisciplinary content team (editors, producers, writers, assistant producers)
- Establish and optimize editorial workflows, review processes, and quality control standards
- Promote a collaborative culture between editorial, creative, technical, and commercial units
- Manage the department budget, content acquisition planning, and resource allocation
What you'll bring
- Degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting, Audiovisual Production, or related fields
- Solid experience in editorial leadership, content management, sports media, or TV production
- Proven track record with live broadcasts, original show development, and talent-driven formats. Experience collaborating with rights holders, partner content providers, and commercial teams
- Strong understanding of sports storytelling, live production dynamics, and editorial best practices
- Ability to evaluate scripts, treatments, and rundowns with editorial and creative accuracy
- Familiarity with production workflows, post-production processes, and broadcast environments
- Knowledge of digital content formats, audience behavior, and platform-specific editorial adaptations
- Intermediate to advanced English for communication with international partners and content providers
- Strong leadership with the ability to inspire and guide creative teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially when dealing with talent and executives
- Strategic thinking with a sharp editorial eye and high attention to detail
- Ability to make fast, sound decisions in live or high-pressure environments
- Proactive, collaborative, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
