This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and grow a distributed engineering team across the Americas while driving technical excellence and innovation. You will oversee both front-end and back-end development, ensuring high-quality delivery in a cloud-native environment, while fostering a collaborative and continuous learning culture. The position balances hands-on technical guidance with strategic leadership, enabling teams to deliver scalable solutions efficiently. You will influence product and technical strategy, mentor engineers, and implement best practices, including AI-assisted development tools, to enhance productivity and code quality. This is a fully remote role, working closely with multicultural teams across the region, providing high visibility to stakeholders, and contributing to the overall success of engineering initiatives.
Accountabilities:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a cross-functional engineering team across the Americas, conducting 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning.
- Oversee planning, prioritization, and roadmap execution in partnership with product and business stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance and architectural oversight for front-end technologies (Angular, React.js, TypeScript) and backend services (Java) within cloud environments.
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards, code quality, testing, performance, and security requirements.
- Promote and establish best practices for AI-assisted development, balancing experimentation with maintainable and secure code.
- Facilitate communication across distributed teams and act as a point of escalation for technical and organizational challenges.
- Strengthen engineering culture, agile practices, and continuous improvement processes to enhance team performance and delivery.
Requirements:
- 3–5+ years of experience leading engineering teams, with proven ability to manage distributed and multicultural teams.
- Strong technical background in Java or similar backend technologies, with experience in front-end frameworks (Angular, React.js, TypeScript).
- Solid understanding of cloud environments (AWS), CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud-native architectures.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools in production environments.
- Previous experience as a Tech Lead or Engineering Manager, with demonstrated ability to scale teams and processes.
- Native Spanish speaker with advanced English (C1/C2); additional languages are a plus.
- Strong organizational, communication, and process improvement skills, with experience in international environments.
- Nice to have: Scrum/Agile certifications, SQL/database experience, experience defining AI guidelines in engineering teams.
