Junior Power Market Data & Research Analyst

The Opportunity

Rystad Energy is seeking an ambitious and motivated candidate with a strong academic record of accomplishment, an analytical mindset, with excellent data and communication skills, and interested in power markets, renewables technologies and energy transition.

The Renewables and Power team is part of the analysis department in Rystad Energy and is responsible for maintaining and developing our database and products within the sector. Your role will consist of researching the major power markets across Latin America to support the development of our regional products. You will be joining a lean and collaborative team, in a very dynamic environment, interacting with analysts from different teams across the world and with local and global clients.

Responsibilities

·         Research into the major Latin America power markets, including regulation framework and pricing mechanisms

·         Track changes in policies and their key implications for the forecast models

·         Develop and maintain automated data scrapers to collect power market data across the region

·         Develop, update and manage the regional power databases in Excel and SQL

·         Support the development and management of dashboards in Power BI

·         Track power auctions results and technology trends

·         Support the development of customized analysis and market reports

·         Support the development of presentations for client meetings, conferences and webinars

Requirements

·         Academic background in engineering, economics or computer science

·         1-3 years in the power market space

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

·         Proficient in Excel (basic formulas, pivot tables, ability to structure large spreadsheets), PowerPoint and Power BI

·         Strong programming skills in Python

·         Basic knowledge of SQL, including database structure and queries

·         Solid analytical and problem-solving skills

·         Team player, fast learner and interested in energy-related topics
