This role offers the opportunity to build and enhance fintech solutions focused on payment processing and financial transactions across Latin America. You will contribute to scalable backend services while also collaborating across frontend and backend development initiatives. Accountabilities
The role focuses on developing and improving fintech applications, ensuring reliable payment processing, scalable architecture, and high-quality software delivery across backend and frontend systems.
- Develop and maintain backend services using Python and FastAPI.
- Design, build, and integrate RESTful APIs with internal platforms and third-party systems.
- Implement and maintain payment gateway integrations, including MercadoPago and other Latin American payment solutions.
- Work with CockroachDB or similar distributed SQL databases to manage data, optimize queries, and improve performance.
- Develop asynchronous workflows and messaging solutions using RabbitMQ or similar technologies.
- Contribute to an existing production codebase, quickly understanding systems and taking ownership of development tasks.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver reliable features and improvements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, integration, and payment-processing issues.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following software engineering best practices.
- Participate in technical discussions and contribute ideas to improve system architecture and development processes.
- Support frontend and backend development activities as needed.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is a skilled full stack developer with strong Python experience, fintech knowledge, and the ability to independently contribute in a fast-paced remote environment.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with consideration for exceptional candidates with 3–4 years of relevant experience.
- Advanced English proficiency (B2+ level, written and spoken).
- Strong experience with Python development and backend application design.
- Hands-on experience building backend services using FastAPI.
- Strong knowledge of RESTful API design, development, and integration.
- Experience working with CockroachDB or similar distributed SQL database technologies.
- Experience with RabbitMQ or other message broker systems.
- Proven experience integrating MercadoPago APIs and working with Latin American payment ecosystems.
- Full stack development experience with the ability to contribute to both frontend and backend solutions.
- Ability to understand existing codebases quickly and deliver independently.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with additional LATAM payment platforms such as PayU, Wompi, Conekta, or Culqi is a plus.
- Previous experience in fintech, payments, banking, or financial services is desirable.
- Knowledge of microservices architectures, event-driven systems, cloud environments, and modern deployment practices is a plus.
- Experience working with remote or distributed teams is desirable.
