Product Engineer Engine & Exhaust Aftertreatment Systems

Development of vehicle systems for commercial vehicle applications, with a focus on engine systems and exhaust aftertreatment systems, ensuring product performance, quality, mass targets, and cost targets, while adhering to project assumptions, scope, and timelines as defined in the Project Roadmap.

One of the key responsibilities of the Product Development Engineer is to define the strategic vision for the product and its validation plan, including market analysis, identification of opportunities, understanding customer needs, and aligning product objectives with the company’s overall strategy.

• Develop engine and exhaust aftertreatment systems, including pipes, flexible elements, brackets, and engines, using Agile methodology;
• Optimize materials focusing on mass and cost reduction, applying knowledge of strength of materials and vehicle dynamics;
• Coordinate and analyze the execution and development of systems and components under responsibility, ensuring product performance, quality, timelines, and cost targets;
• Support the Pre-Development phase, providing inputs based on lessons learned from previous projects and field issues, including layout execution;
• Conduct benchmarking activities on competitor vehicles to support development decisions;
• Support internal, external, and homologation testing, analyze results, and revise designs based on engineering and quality criteria;
• Monitor prototype assembly, ensuring quality, performance, and adherence to testing timelines;
• Prepare technical documentation for component release according to Engineering standards;
• Analyze and resolve problems using structured methodologies;
• Coordinate cross-functional teams (R&D, Purchasing, Production, etc.);
• Support and participate in VCT follow-up meetings, tracking progress and activities;
• Manage development activities with suppliers, including concept development, technical studies, tooling, and testing;
• Plan activities and ensure decision-making aligned with project milestones;
• Apply innovations and new technologies to current products and projects.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Mechatronics, or Production Engineering;
• Postgraduate degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Production, Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronics Engineering, and/or Project Management or Business Management is desirable;
• Additional specialization in Hybrid / Electric Vehicles, Vehicle Dynamics, or Automotive Mechanics is a plus;
• Failure Analysis;
• Project Management;
• Automotive Systems Engineering;
• Structural Mechanical Analysis;
• Negotiation Skills;
• Knowledge of Vehicle Dynamics Engineering;
• Familiarity with AI Tools.
