As a Backend Developer, you will contribute to the evolution of a high-impact dental technology platform used by thousands of clinics and professionals across Brazil. You will work on scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend solutions that directly influence the experience of healthcare professionals and their patients. The role combines hands-on Java development with API design, automated testing, database management, and modern engineering practices. You will collaborate within agile, multidisciplinary teams and participate actively in technical discussions and code reviews. There is also an opportunity to work with emerging AI technologies, including AI agents and modern context-management approaches. Accountabilities:
- Participate actively in sprint cycles, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to plan, develop, and deliver product improvements.
- Design, develop, and maintain stable, reliable, scalable, and easy-to-maintain backend solutions.
- Build and integrate APIs using Java and modern backend development practices.
- Analyze technical risks, feasibility, performance, scalability, and stability when designing new solutions.
- Develop and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure product reliability and quality.
- Perform deployments of new system versions and provide technical support to other team members during releases.
- Gather, analyze, and translate technical and project requirements into effective software solutions.
- Participate in discussions around development best practices, architecture, engineering processes, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct and contribute to code reviews, helping improve both personal and team code quality.
- Apply Clean Code principles, Design Patterns, and appropriate software engineering practices throughout development.
- Explore and contribute to the use of AI agents and AI-assisted development practices within the engineering environment.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, product stability, and engineering efficiency.
Requirements
- Solid professional experience developing Java web applications.
- Proven experience building and integrating APIs.
- Strong knowledge of unit testing and software quality practices.
- Experience with Java frameworks such as Play Framework, Spring Boot, or Micronaut.
- Good knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL.
- Familiarity with Git and version control workflows.
- Strong programming fundamentals and deep knowledge of at least one programming language.
- Good understanding of Clean Code principles and Design Patterns.
- Practical experience working with AI agents and AI models for software development, preferably Claude Code.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with fast delivery cycles and changing priorities.
- Proactive, collaborative mindset with strong ownership and willingness to continuously improve.
- Experience with agile methodologies is a plus.
- Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is desirable.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as Redis or MongoDB is an advantage.
- Knowledge of MicroProfile and JavaScript is desirable.
- Understanding of Prompt Engineering and context-structuring techniques such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is a plus.
- Experience developing or integrating AI agents is desirable.
- Familiarity with AI frameworks for the Java ecosystem, such as LangChain4j, LangGraph, Spring AI, or Semantic Kernel, is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) for connecting AI agents with internal tools and customer-facing products is a plus.
