This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer based in Brazil.
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will help build reliable, scalable systems that support a modern SaaS platform transforming how dental practices operate.
You will work primarily with Java and Spring Boot, taking ownership of major product updates from development through production release.
The role combines hands-on engineering with technical ownership, requiring a strong focus on architecture, security, stability, testing, and performance.
You will collaborate closely with Product and Frontend teams to deliver AI-powered capabilities and seamless user experiences.
AI tools will be part of your development workflow, helping you increase velocity while maintaining full ownership of technical decisions and code quality.
You will also mentor teammates, improve engineering processes, and directly influence the reliability and evolution of a high-impact product.
Accountabilities:
- Own the end-to-end delivery of major product updates, managing release lifecycles and ensuring reliable deployment and strong production performance.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and related technologies.
- Use AI development tools such as Claude to accelerate execution while maintaining ownership of application logic, security, architecture, and code quality.
- Collaborate with Product teams to integrate and enhance AI capabilities that simplify complex workflows for users.
- Partner with Frontend engineers to ensure seamless integration between Java Spring Boot backend services and React/TypeScript applications.
- Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and contributing to continuous engineering improvement.
- Identify opportunities to improve team efficiency, development practices, and delivery processes.
- Estimate and plan engineering efforts to support predictable, timely, and high-quality project delivery.
- Maintain a strong focus on testing, stability, scalability, and performance across the production environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
- 6+ years of professional backend engineering experience with a strong track record of producing clean, maintainable, high-quality code.
- Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, or similar backend frameworks.
- Experience with Snowflake or enterprise cloud data warehouses and large-scale data querying and management.
- Proven experience owning successful releases of high-traffic features or major platform migrations.
- Strong understanding of AI-assisted software development and the ability to use AI tools as a copilot without compromising engineering judgment or problem-solving depth.
- Strong knowledge of software testing, system stability, performance, scalability, and production reliability.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with B2 level or higher proficiency.
- Customer-centric mindset and awareness of the importance of maintaining reliable systems for businesses that depend on the platform.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with openness to feedback and respect for diverse perspectives and expertise.
