Senior Commercial Finance Analyst

• Maintain the BU revenue forecasting model day-to-day within the FP&A-approved template: enter discretionary inputs (discount unwindings, credit notes, manual overlays) as directed by the Commercial Finance Manager. 

• Validate automated CARR and bookings feeds from Rev Ops against EPM inputs; flag discrepancies to the Commercial Finance Manager before the monthly cut-off. 

• Own the reconciliation end-to-end with minimal direction; propose overlay assumptions based on current trading context and present rationale to the Commercial Finance Manager for sign-off. 

Cost Model Maintenance  

• Gather cost inputs (Product, Sales, Marketing, Other) from BU function teams in advance of the monthly deadline; chase outstanding inputs and flag gaps to the Commercial Finance Manager. 

• Build and maintain the BU cost model in the FP&A-approved template; update headcount schedules, apply People Ops headcount distributions, and load the finalised numbers into EPM by the agreed deadline. 

• Receive and integrate standardised cost outputs from Functional Finance for centrally-owned functional areas into the BU cost file; flag queries to the Commercial Finance Manager before the EPM load and escalate late submissions as an exception. 

• Maintain a live cost tracker so the Commercial Finance Manager always has an up-to-date view of run-rate and pacing against forecast — not just at month-end. 

• Lead the structured cost-building conversations with function team members, interpreting forecast drivers and applying cost modelling judgment; surface material changes proactively with a clear variance narrative. 

Monthly Reporting & MBR Pack Production  

• Build the foundational slides and data tables for the BU MBR pack: pull actuals from EPM, integrate BU Controller variance commentary and Rev Ops pipeline sections, and populate the FP&A standard template with BU-specific data. 

• Prepare charts, KPI tables and supporting exhibits for the QLM pack under Commercial Finance Manager direction, ensuring all numbers are reconciled to the BU model before the pack is handed to the Manager for review. 

• Maintain version control across all reporting materials; ensure only Manager-reviewed versions are shared beyond the pod. 

• Draft the written narrative and variance commentary for Manager review; propose the key messages and decision points the GM should take from the pack based on the month's data. 

Business Case Preparation  

• Build the financial model underpinning BU-level business cases: P&L impact, cash flow, NPV and sensitivity analysis, using inputs gathered from function leaders and reviewed by the Commercial Finance Manager. 

• Maintain the pipeline tracker for all open business cases: log approval stage, committed outcomes, and post-approval ROI metrics; flag cases where the approval chain has stalled. 

• Prepare a complete first-draft business case (model and written narrative) for Commercial Finance Manager review; identify and propose the key risks, sensitivities and alternative scenarios without being directed to do so. 

Headcount & PO Approval  

• Review headcount requests raised by functional BU leaders: validate P&L impact, confirm alignment with the BU cost forecast, and prepare the financial assessment for CFD review before the request progresses through the approval chain. 

• Review PO requests against the approved budget and cost forecast; flag out-of-budget spend immediately and initiate the business case process (Process 04) before any commitment is made. 

• Ensure all headcount changes and PO submissions are correctly processed and reflected in the live cost model — the cost model is only as good as its last update. 

• Identify patterns in headcount and PO requests (recurring over-budget areas, functions with high escalation rates) and surface these to the Commercial Finance Manager as a periodic cost discipline insight. 

NRC Tracking & Business Casing 

• Maintain the BU NRC project tracker: log approval status, actual vs forecast spend, and reforecast positions for all single-BU NRC projects. 

• Prepare the monthly variance analysis and reforecast submissions for active NRC projects, aligned to the FP&A reporting schedule, for Commercial Finance Manager review. 

Planning, Budgeting & Forecast Support 

• Gather and consolidate function leader cost inputs during the annual budget build and quarterly reforecast cycles; populate the BU plan model and flag inconsistencies or missing inputs to the Commercial Finance Manager. 

• Run sensitivity and scenario analysis on the BU plan to support the Commercial Finance Manager's reconciliation conversations with function leaders. 

• Maintain the BU headcount plan (plan vs actual) and cost pacing tracker; update monthly and flag run-rate deviations to the Commercial Finance Manager as they emerge. 

• Own the end-to-end data assembly and model build for defined sections of the budget cycle (e.g. a specific function cost area or the full NRC plan); present findings and assumptions to the Commercial Finance Manager for sign-off. 

Ad Hoc Analysis & Commercial Support 

• Respond to ad hoc analytical requests from the Commercial Finance Manager — cost-to-serve analysis, deal margin modelling, pricing sensitivity, third-party spend deep-dives — producing clear, well-structured outputs with a summary of key findings. 

• Support pricing framework and new product launch analysis: build the margin models, populate KPI trackers and maintain post-launch performance reporting. 

• Frame ad hoc analyses with a clear "so what" for the CFD or GM — not just the numbers, but the decision implication — allowing the Commercial Finance Manager to present findings with minimal rework. 

What We're Looking For 

• Solid experience in Commercial Finance or FP&A, ideally in a SaaS or software environment. Demonstrated track record of owning analytical workstreams end-to-end. 

• Fluent in driver-based cost and revenue modelling. Working knowledge of EPM, CRM (Salesforce) and BI environments. Comfortable applying AI tools to reduce recurring analytical effort.  

• Demonstrates proactive thinking by anticipating questions, connecting analysis to business outcomes, and clearly articulating the implications of findings.  

• Operates with autonomy.  

• Applies commercial context to analytical work. 

• Demonstrates accountability for quality and consistency by identifying risks to standard processes and advocation for compliant solutions.  

• Advanced English.  

• Thrives in collaborative environments, fostering positive relationships and partnering effectively with colleagues across functions.  

What success looks like 

• Revenue and cost models maintained accurately and submitted to EPM on every FP&A deadline without prompting from the Commercial Finance Manager. 

• Headcount and PO financial summaries and approvals completed consistently and accurately; aligning to cost model outcomes and narrative. 

• MBR and QLM pack data foundations delivered to the Commercial Finance Manager on time, with charts and tables reconciled to the BU model and no material rebuild required. 

• Non Recurring Cost (NRC) tracker live and current; at least one monthly reforecast submission completed to the FP&A schedule with variance commentary included. 

• Function team members across Sales, Marketing, Product, CS, R&D and PS recognise the Analyst as the primary contact for revenue/cost data requests and process queries. 

• Monthly forecast reset or budget cycle section owned end-to-end — data gathered, model built, variance narrative drafted — with the Commercial Finance Manager reviewing and presenting rather than rebuilding. 

• Proactively surfaced material cost or forecast risks ahead of the month-end cycle, giving the Commercial Finance Manager time to engage the CFD before they become surprises in the MBR. 

• Commercial Finance Manager able to delegate defined analytical workstreams with confidence, freeing capacity for higher-value function leader engagement and CFD partnering.
