Senior Associate BI Specialist

The Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist will play a key role in transforming data into actionable insights that drive business decisions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring data quality, conducting data analysis, and developing standardized reporting frameworks. The BI Specialist will collaborate with various departments to enhance business processes through data-driven strategies and support training initiatives to enhance data literacy within the organization. The BI Specialist will be a key resource in producing management reporting to both the Exco and Board and will need to act with integrity, sensitivity and diligence.  From a high-level perspective, the core responsibilities that form your role are broken down into the following 9 categories:

Your Daily Tasks

1.      Data Quality Review and Improvement:

Includes (but not limited to) the following tasks:

a)    Review, validate, and enhance data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across business systems.

b)    Identify and resolve data discrepancies and inconsistencies by conducting audits and implementing corrective measures.

c)     Develop and implement best practices for ongoing data quality management.

d)    Collaborate with IT and data management teams to establish data governance policies.

2.    Data Analysis:

Includes (but are not limited to) the following tasks:

a)    Utilize data analysis tools and methodologies to identify, collect, and cleanse data for improved decision-making.

b)    Perform trend analysis, forecasting, and pattern identification to support business strategies.

c)     Extract meaningful insights from complex datasets and provide recommendations based on findings.

d)    Design and execute exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover hidden patterns and opportunities.

3.    Data Reporting:

Includes (but are not limited to) the following tasks:

a)    Translate business requirements into clear, concise, and actionable data reports.

b)    Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to support management information and operational reporting.

c)     Ensure timely and accurate delivery of business intelligence reports to key stakeholders.

d)    Optimize report performance and scalability to handle increasing data volumes.

4.    Data Deliverables:

Includes (but are not limited to) the following tasks:

a)    Maintain high standards of precision, accuracy, and quality in all data deliverables to support decision-making.

b)    Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies to safeguard sensitive information.

c)    Establish a documentation process to track data deliverable methodologies and modifications.

5.    Data Standardization

Includes (but are not limited to) the following tasks:

a)    Develop and maintain a standardized reporting framework, including templates and best practices.

b)    Ensure consistency in branding, access control, data naming conventions, security measures, and data visualization aesthetics.

c)     Define and enforce data documentation standards to streamline report generation and improve usability.

6.    Business Improvement & Data Modeling:

Includes (but are not limited to) the following tasks:

a)    Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for business process improvements based on data insights.

b)    Provide recommendations to optimize efficiency and performance through data-driven strategies.

c)     Apply data modeling techniques to identify areas where business operations can be streamlined and optimized.

d)    Assist in designing and implementing data structures to support business intelligence needs.

7.     Communication, Collaboration, and Training:

Includes (but are not limited to) the following tasks:

a)    Effectively communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

b)    Work closely with cross-functional teams to support data-driven decision-making.

c)     Conduct training sessions, workshops, and ongoing support to improve data literacy within the organization.

d)    Assist end-users in understanding and utilizing BI tools and reports effectively.

8.    Project and Initiative Support:

Includes (but are not limited to) the following tasks:

a)    Participate in business intelligence projects and initiatives as directed.

b)    Proactively contribute to strategic planning and execution of BI-related activities.

c)     Provide input on technology upgrades and process improvements within the BI ecosystem.

9.    Risk and Compliance Responsibilities:

Includes (but are not limited to) the following tasks:

a)    Policy Implementation: Help implement compliance policies at the operational level.

b)    Monitoring Tools: Utilize tools to monitor compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.

c)     Compliance Culture - Working in tandem with the groups Head of Compliance and Governance to instill a culture that is centered around good governance and compliance.

d)    Reporting: Assist in preparing compliance reports for management review.

e)     Issue Tracking: Track and manage compliance-related issues and follow up on resolutions.

f)      Communication: Communicate compliance requirements effectively within the team.

Required Skills & Experience

·       Bachelor's degree in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.

·       3-5 Years experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or a similar role.

·       Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI or similar.

·       Strong SQL skills and experience with database management.

·       Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data modeling.

·       Experience with ETL processes and data integration.

·       Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

·       Understanding of data governance and compliance requirements.

·       Strong project management and organizational skills.

·       Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
