This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Backend Developer based in Brazil.
This role sits at the core of a fast-scaling fintech environment focused on transforming access to credit and building fairer, more transparent financial solutions. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems that support high-volume, data-driven financial products used by millions of users. The environment is highly technical and product-oriented, where engineering decisions directly impact customer experience, risk models, and financial outcomes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable APIs, optimize system performance, and ensure reliability across critical services. The role requires strong engineering fundamentals, a product mindset, and the ability to operate in a fast-changing, innovation-driven context. You will also contribute to architectural decisions and help evolve a modern cloud-native backend ecosystem. This is a high-impact position where your work directly supports financial inclusion at scale.
Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java with Spring Boot and Hibernate, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Build and optimize APIs and data-driven services that support financial products and large-scale user operations.
- Work extensively with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or similar), ensuring data integrity and efficient querying.
- Develop and maintain cloud-based solutions on AWS, supporting scalable and resilient system architectures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and well-structured codebases.
- Contribute to system design discussions and help evolve backend architecture aligned with product growth.
- Troubleshoot production issues, optimize system performance, and ensure platform stability.
- Optionally support frontend code reviews (React) and Node.js components when needed.
Requirements:
- Strong experience in backend development with Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
- Solid knowledge of relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle or equivalent).
- Proven experience working with AWS and cloud-based architectures.
- Strong analytical background, ideally in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, statistics, or similar quantitative fields.
- Ability to work in dynamic environments with changing priorities and fast delivery cycles.
- Good understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, code quality, and system design.
- Instrumental English proficiency for reading documentation and collaborating in technical contexts.
- Nice to have: experience with AI-assisted development tools, Node.js, React code review, or financial products.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to translate complex requirements into scalable solutions.
