About the Role

We are looking for a Senior COBOL Developer to join a long-term project supporting and evolving critical enterprise systems running on mainframe environments.

In this role, you will work with complex legacy systems built on COBOL and CICS, helping maintain, enhance, and modernize key applications that support core business operations. The ideal candidate is a highly experienced mainframe engineer who can quickly understand large-scale systems, resolve complex technical challenges, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable solutions.

This position requires deep expertise in COBOL development within mainframe environments, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support ongoing development, integration, and system improvements.

• Take ownership of developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications built using COBOL within mainframe environments.
• Design and implement both CICS-based and batch COBOL programs that support core business processes.
• Work with JCL, COBOL, and CICS to build, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise-level mainframe applications.
• Develop and maintain integrations involving VSAM files and DB2 databases while adapting existing system designs to support new business requirements.
• Analyze complex legacy systems and resolve design conflicts or technical issues impacting system performance and stability.
• Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into reliable technical solutions.
• Support troubleshooting and debugging activities across multiple mainframe components and related systems.
• Contribute to system improvements and modernization initiatives where applicable.

• 10+ years of recent experience developing applications using COBOL for both CICS and batch programs.
• Strong expertise working with mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, and CICS.
• Hands-on experience working with VSAM files and DB2 databases.
• Proven experience working within complex mainframe environments and resolving challenging design and integration issues.
• Strong ability to analyze and understand large legacy systems quickly.
• Excellent organizational, presentation, and communication skills in both written and verbal formats

• Experience working within IBM VSE mainframe environments.
• Exposure to mainframe troubleshooting and debugging tools including COBOL, JCL, DB2, DB2 Stored Procedures, CICS, SPUFI, and File-Aid.
• Experience working with stored procedures and SQL in Microsoft SQL Server (2005 or later).
• Experience with Quik Job utility language.
• Exposure or willingness to learn cloud technologies such as Google Cloud.
• Interest or willingness to expand into Java development.
• Exposure or willingness to learn Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM platform.
