Accountabilities
- Lead the end-to-end development of utility-scale BESS and renewable energy projects, from site origination through permitting, interconnection, and financial close.
- Define and execute project de-risking and commercial strategies to ensure successful progression to NTP and COD.
- Manage negotiations for PPAs, interconnection agreements, land leases, and regulatory approvals in alignment with Brazilian energy market frameworks.
- Identify, assess, and secure project sites, including conducting due diligence, land acquisition, and contract structuring activities.
- Collaborate with origination and market teams to identify opportunities, respond to RFPs, and support strategic project bidding initiatives.
- Oversee interactions with regulatory bodies such as ONS and EPE, ensuring compliance with transmission and market requirements.
- Maintain project financial viability, ensuring alignment with investment thresholds and supporting financing processes.
- Build and manage relationships with key Brazilian stakeholders, partners, and external counterparties to support project execution.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts across engineering, legal, commercial, and finance teams to drive project delivery.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in renewable energy, energy infrastructure, or utility-scale project development roles.
- Strong track record of delivering greenfield projects through development lifecycles in Brazil, ideally including BESS, solar, or hybrid systems.
- Deep understanding of Brazilian energy market structures, including ONS, EPE processes, and transmission auction frameworks.
- Proven experience negotiating complex agreements such as PPAs, land leases, interconnection agreements, and project acquisition contracts.
- Hands-on expertise in site origination, permitting, land acquisition, and development risk management for large infrastructure projects.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing financial feasibility and project investment criteria.
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills across technical, regulatory, and commercial environments.
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with high ownership and accountability.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple complex project streams simultaneously.
- Background in battery storage or renewable hybrid projects is highly desirable.
