Job Description - Application Support Specialist - IFS UK


We are currently seeking an Application Support Specialist on behalf of our client for a contract extending to November 2026, with the possibility of permanent employment.

Location: Montreal (on-site presence required 3 days per week). Application Deadline: September 15, 2025.Compensation: $70-75/hour (estimate)  for a 40-hour workweek (220–240 days per year). Schedule: Monday to Friday, with one Sunday per month on rotation (12:00 PM–8:00 PM in summer, 11:00 AM–7:00 PM in winter).






Profil



  • Minimum 5 years of experience in application production support (APS)

  • 2 years of experience in the financial or banking sector

  • Strong understanding of the full trade lifecycle

  • Advanced SQL and UNIX skills

  • Comfortable in client-facing roles, including managing complex interactions

Assets:



  • Knowledge of IBM/Cloud, Kubernetes, Autosys

  • Bilingual (English-French) – a significant advantage

  • English CV required

Key Responsibilities



  • Daily support: Monitor and resolve incidents in accordance with SLAs and ITIL processes.

  • Incident management: Promptly escalate unresolved issues and produce incident reports.

  • Technical analysis: Provide Level 1 support, conduct in-depth problem analysis, and propose alternative solutions.

  • Knowledge base: Update and share expertise with the team.

  • Night support: Participate in rotational shifts for application monitoring.

  • Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize procedures and service quality.

  • Communication: Ensure clear reporting and proactive escalation of alerts.

Key Skills:



  • Proficiency in ITIL and incident management.

  • Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent).

  • Experience with PL/SQL, Sybase ASE/IQ, and UNIX scripting.

  • Ability to analyze existing scripts and extract data.

  • Background in business analysis and procedure development.

  • Fluent English (written and spoken) – mandatory.
