Job Description - CG Surfacing Artist: Paw Patrol

Are you ready to take the world's #1 smash hit animated series to the next level? The award-winning, action-packed and loved-by-every-child-on-Earth series PAW Patrol is entering its second decade of production, with BIG plans ahead!



We’re looking for an experienced CG Surfacing Artist to join the production of PAW Patrol. 




Responsibilities:



  • Primary Role is to UV / Texture / Develop Shaders to be used in Production.

  • Work with the Art Director, Surfacing Supervisor or Lead to reach the intended look of Locations, Environments, Props and Set Dressing based on the guidelines outlined by the Supervisors and Production in adherence to Production Scope

  • Maintain a clean and predictable naming structure for textures, shaders and shading networks

  • Keep Production as well as Supervisors  informed of any potential technical or creative problems

  • Collaborate with other artists to ensure quality and consistency

  • Keep up to speed with up and coming technology, and make recommendations for workflow improvement



Qualifications:



  • 5+ years experience working as a 3D Surfacer in Series and/or Feature Animation production

  • Strong understanding of how an TV Animation series pipeline operates

  • Strong traditional artwork portfolio is an asset

  • Portfolio featuring location builds that demonstrate of seamless tiling, UDim texturing

  • Knowledge of 3D texturing tools (Substance Painter, Substance Designer, zBrush)

  • Experience with Autodesk Shotgrid/Flow is required, including submission notes, tasks statuses and logging work time

  • Experience with Houdini in a USD environment

  • 5+ years Experience with UDIM and procedural Surfacing techniques

  • A Portfolio that demonstrates intelligent and well utilized UVs

  • Advanced to Expert knowledge of Maya/Redshift Shader Development

  • Knowledge of Xgen is an asset

  • Python scripting skills, at any level, would be nice to have

  • Ability to communicate creatively and technically to your teammates, including flagging concerns and issues to Production and CG Supervisor

Contract duration:
Fixed-term contract of approximately 3 months. 




Expected compensation: $1500 - $1700 per week, depending on experience and role requirements.
