The Nunavut Impact Review Board (NIRB) is Nunavut’s environmental assessment agency. Its mission is to protect and promote the well-being of the Environment and Nunavummiut through the impact assessment process, including responsibilities for assessing the potential impacts of proposed projects before any required permits, licenses and approvals can be granted.
The Nunavut Water Board (NWB) seeks to protect, manage and regulate freshwaters in Nunavut by incorporating Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and scientific knowledge in decision-making. The NWB is based in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut.
The Board has responsibilities and powers over the use, management and regulation of inland water in Nunavut and its objects are to provide for the conservation and utilization of waters in Nunavut —except in national parks— in a manner that will provide the optimum benefits for the residents of Nunavut in particular and Canadians in general.
Director, Policy and Partnership
We are seeking a visionary leader for a Three-Year, Term position of Director, Policy and Partnership. This role is unique, reporting to the Executive Directors of both the NIRB and the NWB on a 50-50 split time-allocation basis.
The Role
The Director, Policy and Partnership is accountable for leading policy planning, development and implementation, as well as legislative initiatives related to the Nunavut Agreement and each IPG’s enabling legislation. Additionally, this role involves identifying policy needs, assessing legal and financial implications, and ensuring that technical rules, directives and guidance materials are streamlined and consistent across both organizations.

Salary Range: $137,702,36 – $203,111.57 (commensurate with experience).
