Job Description - Infant Hearing Screener


Infant Hearing Program
Temporary Casual Position (approximately until September 2025)
Hours per week: up to 22.5 hours/week as required
Brampton Site
New Position
Compensation Range: $34.48 - 40.57/ hour

Position Summary:
ErinoakKids is currently seeking an experienced Infant Hearing Screener to join the Infant Hearing Program (IHP).  This individual will be primarily responsible for newborn hearing screenings while reporting to a Clinical Services Supervisor. As an Infant Hearing Screener, there are requirements to travel between the ErinoakKids sites as well as a number of community clinics.

Infant Hearing Screeners are required to provide counseling to parents/caregivers regarding the results of screening and follow-up procedures, where necessary. They will distribute appropriate written materials to parents/caregivers; and maintain proper documentation and health and safety practices as outlined by Erinoakkids and the IHP. Other responsibilities are administrative support at early identification clinics in the community.

Qualifications:
  • College Diploma or University Degree in a related field (example, Early Childhood Education, Communication Disorders Assistant etc)
  • Minimum 1 year experience as Infant Hearing Screener
  • Knowledge of speech-language development and audiology an asset
  • Superb interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) to deal effectively with staff, clients, volunteers and others within the community.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office: Intermediate Word, Excel, Access)
  • Exceptional organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
