GCS Group delivers underground telecom infrastructure across Alberta, with a strong focus on horizontal directional drilling. We're a team that values skilled tradespeople who take pride in doing the job right. As our project pipeline grows, we're adding an Intermediate HDD Locator to our Red Deer-based operations.

Role Overview

At this level, you're expected to hit the ground running. You've been in the field, you know the equipment, and you can handle locate duties with minimal supervision. You'll play a key role in keeping our HDD bores on target while supporting safe and efficient project delivery on telecom installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead locate activities on HDD telecom bores with limited oversight


• Operate SubSite locating systems accurately and efficiently


• Interface directly with Ditch Witch drill operators throughout bore operations


• Identify and communicate utility conflicts or ground anomalies


• Maintain accurate field records and support as-built documentation


• Mentor junior locators on site procedures and equipment use

Requirements

• All locating certifications required and must be current before start date


• Demonstrated field experience with SubSite locating technology


• Hands-on experience working alongside Ditch Witch HDD drills


• Strong situational awareness and communication skills


• Valid driver's license

• Ground Disturbance Level 2 training certification;
