Job Description - Kimberley Alpine Team | Alpine Program Manager

About the Opportunity

The Kimberley Alpine Team (KAT) is seeking an experienced Alpine Program Manager to lead all aspects of our athletic programming. This leadership position oversees the planning, development, and delivery of KAT’s Alpine and Freestyle programs—ensuring that every athlete, coach, and family experiences a safe, inclusive, and high-performance environment.

The Program Manager will work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to set the club’s strategic direction, align programming with BC Alpine, Alpine Canada, and Freestyle BC standards, and uphold the principles of the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model.

This role is ideal for a seasoned ski coach or program leader who thrives on developing people, building strong partnerships, and delivering technical excellence both on and off the hill.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Program Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and communicate the club’s coaching philosophy in alignment with organizational goals.

  • Collaborate with the Board on long-term planning, program evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure programs are designed and delivered according to LTAD principles and national/provincial standards.

Technical Program Oversight

  • Lead the design and delivery of training sessions, dryland programs, and on-snow camps.

  • Maintain consistency in coaching practices, safety standards, and athlete support systems across all teams.

  • Oversee technical elements such as ski tuning education, injury management, and return-to-play coordination.

Coaching Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, hire, and manage a high-performing coaching team across all disciplines.

  • Provide mentorship, feedback, and professional development opportunities to coaching staff.

  • Conduct mid-season and year-end performance evaluations and support continuous coach education.

Stakeholder Relations & Communication

  • Act as the primary point of contact for athletes, families, coaches, and the Board.

  • Represent the club professionally at community events, competitions, and partner meetings.

  • Foster productive relationships with Kimberley Alpine Resort, Dreadnaught Racing, BC Alpine, and other partner organizations.

Administration & Governance

  • Manage program operations, including scheduling, staff allocation, logistics, and compliance.

  • Ensure all activities meet club safety policies, LTAD standards, and SafeSport principles.

  • Prepare timely reports, communications, and updates for the Board of Directors.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • NCCP Certification or equivalent ski coaching qualification.

  • Strong understanding of Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) and athlete-centered coaching.

  • Significant coaching experience, including technical program design and delivery.

  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience within a competitive sport setting.

  • Proven ability to manage logistics, coordinate multiple programs, and mentor staff effectively.

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Familiarity with BC Alpine, Alpine Canada, and club-level governance structures.

Core Competencies

  • Leadership & Coaching Development: Builds and inspires teams, develops others, and fosters continuous improvement.

  • Program Management: Effectively plans and delivers multi-faceted athletic programs, anticipating risks and aligning resources.

  • Strategic Thinking: Aligns daily operations with long-term organizational objectives and adapts to evolving opportunities.

  • Communication: Communicates with clarity and purpose across all audiences; provides constructive feedback and leadership.

  • Networking & Relationship Building: Cultivates collaborative partnerships to enhance program delivery and community impact.

Working Conditions

  • Combination of on-hill and off-hill work, including dryland facilities and event coordination.

  • Evening and weekend hours required during the competitive season.

  • Travel within and outside the province for events, training, and competitions.

  • Outdoor work in variable winter conditions.
