About the Role

We’re seeking an energetic and dedicated Entry Level Head Coach to lead athlete U6, U8, and U10 development and training. This position is ideal for an up-and-coming coach ready to take the next step in their career—someone who is passionate about coaching youth athletes, fostering skill development, and creating an inclusive, positive team culture.

You’ll work closely with the Board of Directors and coaching team to deliver high-quality, athlete-centered programs that align with BC Alpine guidelines and Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles.

Key Responsibilities

Athlete Coaching & Development

  • Plan and deliver engaging on-snow training sessions that emphasize technical skills, fitness, and mindset.

  • Provide individualized feedback to athletes and track their progression.

  • Support athlete participation in local and regional competitions, ensuring proper registration and preparation.

  • Promote safety and inclusivity in every training environment.

Program Leadership

  • Assist with planning the seasonal schedule, training objectives, and athlete evaluations.

  • Mentor assistant or volunteer coaches, fostering teamwork and continuous learning.
Represent the club professionally at competitions and community events.

Administration & Communication

  • Coordinate travel logistics, competition entries, and equipment needs.

  • Communicate regularly with parents, athletes, and the Board to provide updates and ensure clarity.

  • Maintain accurate records for athlete registration, certification, and compliance.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Coaching certification appropriate to Alpine or Freestyle skiing (e.g., Entry Level or equivalent).

  • Current SafeSport certification (or ability to obtain before season start).

  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
A minimum of 1–3 years of coaching or instructing experience in a youth or sport environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with athletes and families.

  • A passion for athlete growth and commitment to safety.

What You Bring

  • A positive, professional, and growth-oriented mindset.

  • Strong organizational and planning abilities.

  • Adaptability to changing weather, athlete needs, and competition schedules.

  • A collaborative spirit—ready to work with athletes, parents, and fellow coaches.

  • Enthusiasm for creating memorable experiences on and off the snow.

Working Conditions

  • On-snow coaching in variable winter conditions.

  • Evening, weekend, and holiday work as dictated by training and competition schedules.

  • Some travel within the province for events and camps.

  • Administrative duties may be completed remotely or at designated club facilities.
